"EL SHADDAI" For The Lord's portion is His people; Jacob is the lot of His inheritance. He found him in a desert land and in the waste, howling wilderness; He led him about, He instructed him. He kept him as the apple of His eye. As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings, So the Lord alone did lead him.
(Deuteronomy 32:9-12)
A minister was illustrating to his congregation how God took care of his people. He told the following story about a wealthy man that had no one to inherit his estate when he died. He did not want to leave all his wealth to the state so he decided to find someone worthy to be his heir. He got up one morning and dressed as a bum, he had let his beard grow so it would look scraggily and he left his hair go unkempt and when he was satisfied that he look the part, he set out in to the streets to find the worthy person to leave his wealth with. As he walked the streets he was met with unkind words from "well to do" people and he heard many people say "Get a job you bum!" or "You can't sit here, these seats are reserved for our customer!" He walked toward the "poor" side of town and he was rejected there too... He found his way to the railroad tracks and happened upon a "Hobo Jungle" to which several people were rude to him because they thought he was invading their territory. He saw a man sitting beside a cardboard box and he went over to talk to him. The man was preparing dinner and he looked up and said "Hey! Are you hungry?" "Come on over and I will share what I have, it's not much but it is all I have to offer..." As he sat down on the ground, he looked around and saw that the man had his bed made out of rumpled cloth and old clothes and that his only shelter was a cardboard box with plastic over the top to shield him from the rain. As they got ready to eat, the man said "We have to say grace before we eat... I don't have much but I am grateful for what I have..." As they bowed their heads, the man said a beautiful prayer and he was continually saying "God you said in your word..." and the wealthy man then knew that he had found the person to inherit his wealth.... As they were eating, both men's conversation's moved toward talking about God and his blessings... The poor man had nothing but he was continually talking about how blessed he was. As they finished their meal, the wealthy man asked him how could he be reached if he wanted to contact him? The man told him his name and that he always got his mail at a nearby church that allowed him to receive his mail there and he gave him the address. As the wealthy man was getting ready to part, he thanked the man for his hospitality and said "Maybe one day I will be able to do the same." The wealthy man journeyed back to his home and called his lawyer and told him what had happened. He told the lawyer to change his will to include the man as his heir. They discussed that the man would be provided for the rest of his life. They also agreed that it would not be prudent to hand him all the wealth at once so they worked out the details to provide for him on a monthly basis to meet his needs and they set an amount that he would receive each month. One month later, the wealthy man died. His lawyer proceeding with what they had agreed upon sent a check to the address that was given. When the man opened the envelope, he found a check for $3000.00 and a simple note "More to Follow..." Each month the same thing would happen, the same note would be in with the check... "More to follow..." The man went though out the rest of his life with "More to follow!" EL SHADDAI -- Our God of More Than Enough My friend, that is the way God's promises are... More to follow! Luke 12:24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
