Lesson #1
Objectives:
Student will be able to read the book and state what the book is about
Student will use the text to practice their writing skills and letter representation by copying the words in the text

Text:
The book I picked was Ice Cream Everywhere by Marjorie Blain Parker.  I picked this book because I really want my student to focus on how to practice writing and really work on seeing how the letters look and how he is writing the letters.  This was simple for him to write out.  I also picked this book because he really liked eating ice cream and with the weather nicer, I figured he would be more focused on the book.

Parker, Marjorie Blain. (2002). Ice Cream Everywhere. Scholastic Inc: New York.

Materials:
- Text
- Paper
- Colored pencils
- Pencil

Learning Activity:
- First I will have my student look at the cover of the book to guess what the book is talking about.
- Then my student will read the book Ice Cream Everywhere to me. Talk about what the book was about and all the different ways to have ice cream, ask him what is his favorite way to eat ice cream
- After reading the book I want my student using the paper I proved to copy the words in the book. (I want him to look at the words and how they are represented on my page. This is going to help my student focus on how the letters look compared to his.)
- I want him to just look at the word and not how the letter looks.
- Once my student has written out the book in his own writing we will compare how his writing looks and how the writing in the book looks and talk about if there is a difference compared to his. (Hopefully there will be some differences in his writing based on the samples I got from him, he was messing up his bs and ds)

Closure:
- After we go over his writing and comparing it to the books way of writing out the letters, I want him to write about something that he is interested about (It only needs to be a couple of sentences, just want to have him practice letter representation)
- I want him to look closely at how he is writing out his letters
