It is my goal to provide a well-rounded educational experience, while making sure that it is an enjoyable one. My curriculum is focused around playing the drum set, developing basic mechanics, and cultivating musicianship. Each lesson includes:
* Technique * Dynamics * Listening Skills * Reading/Writing Music
* Rudiments * Song Structure * Drum Set Applications * Improvisation
Styles include rock, funk, blues, R&B, jazz, latin, and classical, just to name a few! Lessons can also include information on care and maintenance of equipment, tuning, repair, as well as general information about the music industry (touring, recording, etc.). Students will work from a variety of method books, magazines and instructional videos, and are encouraged to bring in music to learn that they enjoy. This variety helps promote practice time away from the lesson.
Every student receives weekly notes to help guide their practice. They also have the option to record the lesson for playback later. Progress reports are mailed home periodically to keep parents informed of what is happening in the lessons and how their child is doing.
