The First Time All Over Again

For the first time in a long time - in many, many lifetimes - I am unsure of how things will turn out.

 

Those oh-so-familiar brown eyes were the first things I really noticed on my return. Her eyes were just the way I remembered - and yet, the confusion was new. She doesn't remember like she has so many times before. And, she is so young this time, and terrified of me and of what I represent.

 

Things have changed so much from the last time I was here - it's all the same, but different - the music (gods - the music!) , the food- about the only things that haven't changed  are the nature of people; politicians,   - and how complicated relationships can get.

 

I have lived over one hundred lifetimes. I've seen over 4000 years. I've lived lifetime after lifetime with Shier... KENDRA.

 

She's so familiar, but like this new time I've come to, she is - like this time is - very different from all the times before.

 

She wants me to give her time and space to adjust to... EVERYTHING. To us, and to me.

 

I will give her the space she needs - I'm taking the biggest of chances here - but the biggest risks are always the ones most worth taking.

 

For the first time, I am not sure I will win this battle.

 

But I love her and will do my best to win her.  Our love is the center and bedrock of my world. I'll do my best to make our love the bedrock and center of HER world - and, in the end, OUR world.

 

And, then, we'll both win. Again.
