1     What did a king give to and receive from his nobles?
The king gave land to the nobles , who swore an oath of loyalty and agreed to fight for the king if he needed their support.
2     What did a noble give to and receive from the knights?
The noble gave land to knights, in return for their services as soldiers.
3     What did nobles and knights give to and receive from the peasants?
The nobles and knights gave the peasants strips of land to farm for them selves, in return the peasants had to work in their master's fields, and gave them some of the crops each year.
4     What is this system called?
This system is called the feudal system.
5     How were castles protected?
The castles were protected from attact by a moat full of water.
6     How were people and animals housed in a castle?
A high wall surrounded an inner courtyard where there were stables for horses and living quarters for soldiers.
7     Where did the lord and lady stay in the castle?
At the centre of the castle stood the keep, a fortified house in which the lord and lady of the castle lived.
8     What did knights have to do according to the code of chivalry?
Every knight have to do according to the code of chivalry:
a-to show respect for the church.
b-to have pity on the poor.
c-to show bravery .
d-to behave with courtesy especially towards women.
e-to keep their words.
f-to swear to serve the lord who knighted him.
