This little job is perfect. It is all I need
and I mean ME. This little baby can give you
plenty of jars hot for teacher.

all parts are cheap at hardware and lighting stores (USA)



this is a shelf of a bookcase. I have a cloth that
hangs over the front to keep heat in (attached with
thumb tacks)

at the top is a strip of wood with standard light bulb
fixtures wired in parallel (if one light goes off - the rest stay lit)
notice no light bulb in the middle
fixture. you have lots of choices and great control
with your heat source and light bulb radiant heat
is what the doctor ordered for fungi cultures.

under the light strip is a LINE VOLTAGE THERMOSTAT (120 volts)
available at lighting stores (don't bother with hardware
stores for this gadget) it is really cheap - about
14 bucks american. you just wire it into the wire
that supplies power to the bulbs (from the wall socket).
You don't need to fuck with your house electricall system
for christ sakes (burning down the house)
the instructions come with the thermostat for wireing
into an extension cord ect.

then there is the thermometer to monitor temps.

you can dial the thermostat to keep a perfect temp
constant and it works by itself, all automatic of course.

you can use light bulbs of any power, but the low powered
25 watt bulbs are nice or you can use any wattage, but the
higher the wattage the more heat will generate and the lights
will go on and off more frequently. So if you use lower power
bulbs you can minimize on and offs to make the bulbs last.
