Chapter 3
I tugged at my tie and fell backward onto the sofa. "Dude relax, this is such an easy night. Just a few pictures and then we get to sit there and watch everyone else be nervous about winning. We aren't even nominated for anything and our whole family is coming. Even Kate." Isaac said patting me on the back. I sighed heavily and sat back in the seat. I hated these stuffy events. Suits, ties, cameras in my face all the time. I didn't even understand why we were going, like Isaac said, we weren't even nominated. I sat there nervously hoping that this night would just end. How long did I have to wait for her. Just as I reached my final thread of patience, the elevator door slid open and Kate glided out. She looked different that usual, but gorgeous. She had straightened her naturally curly hair and wore more makeup. She wore a short black dress with curtains of lace that fell around her legs and dropped over her black shoes. She was beautiful, and I knew I would never forget how she looked at that very moment. "Geez Kate! What took you so long, you aren't that ugly!" Taylor joked, getting up from his chair and tapping his watch. She rolled her eyes and laughed, "You know I'm only kidding, you look gorgeous." Taylor smiled earnestly drawing Kate into a hug. "Thanks." Kate giggled, "You guys look hot in those lawyer suits!" The whole night was long and stuffy and the only thrill was Kate's arm bumping against mine every once in a while. When we finally got back to the hotel around three in the morning, I searched around the room until I finally found a sheet of hotel stationery. The thoughts of my heart poured out onto the page:
And I waited for you, and I waited for you Just a picture a feeling and face How could I forget your touch your warm embrace And the shoes you wore with long black satin lace As you walk into my mind As you walked into this old forgotten hall Just one look and I began to fall Wish I could frame you and this feeling on the wall To stare at 'til there is no time And I waited for you Just hoping that you'd come back to me And I waited for you Run, run, runaway, run Maybe someday I will find someone too Run, run, run away Maybe some day maybe some day From a distance watched the flowers brush your cheek As you read the words I wrote I couldn't speak And now I lay here broken heart and blistered feet As you're spinning 'round my mind And I waited for you Dreaming of you coming to me And I waited for you Run, run, runaway, run Maybe someday I will find someone too Run, run, run away Maybe some day maybe some day Yeah Maybe some day When you weep you can know that it's all right As you sleep I'll just follow your door light We can talk just as long as you hold on tight Just one breath is a million sighs I can tell every breath that your breathing I can feel every thought that you're thinking We can talk It's a thousand years gone by You and I Run, run, runaway, run Maybe someday I will find someone too Run, run, run away Maybe some day maybe some day Run, run, runaway, run Maybe someday I will find some way Maybe some day maybe some day I'll run away
