Chapter 7

***November 21, 2000:
Ted definetly wasn't prince charming.  When he came to pick me up he drove directly to a motel.  When I asked what he was doing he said he heard I was 'easy'.  I told him he was mistaken and to take me home but he insisted on a date.  We went to a bar and he ordered us some drinks.  I had a martini but after that, I don't remember anything.  I woke up this morning naked in a scummy hotel bed alone.  When I got dressed, they manager was knocking on the door for someone to pay the bill.  I had just enough with me to cover it.  I walked the four miles home and cried almost the whole way.  I couldn't believe that had happened to me.  When I got about half way home the thought crossed my mind, 'what if he didn't use protection?'  The last thing I need right now is to be pregnant.  My family hats me already, that definetly wouldn't make them like me more.  It's only five o' clock, but I am going to bed.  Maybe I'll be lucky and just not wake up, forever.

***November 23, 2000:
Mom called today and screamed at me over the phone.  My counselor called and told her about all my absences and my grades.  She was really pissed off but it was the first time she had talked to me in what seemed like forever so it kinda made me feel a little bit better about the whole situation.  Maybe I will go to school tomorrow.  I haven't been in a really, really long time.

***December 13, 2000:
I haven't written in a long time but I have been super busy.  Not with the usual stuff but with school.  I started going regularly again and I have gotten most of my grades up!  And since the last time I have written I have only been to one party and I didn't even drink!  I just danced with a few guys and left.
***December 14, 2000:
School was the usual today.  Nothing really to say.  Jared is having a party tomorrow and he asked me to come.  I think I might go for awhile.  He kinda gave me a guilt trip about how I have been turning down almost every invite to hang out with them.  I'll probably just stop by for awhile before everyone ends up plastered and dance for a while.

"Maddy, I want to introduce you to my cousin.  He transfered here from the other school and he doesn't know anyone here tonight.  Just keep him company, ok?"  Jared said pushing her in front of a tall, blonde, very attractive male that Madison had never seen before.

"Madison, this is Ashley.  Why don't you dance with him?  He is lonely."  Jared said with a puppy dog face grabbing her arm and leading her towards the dance floor.  Madison wrapped her arms around the shoulders of the good-looking guy she had just been introduced too.
"Well, when I told him to introduce me to people I had no idea it was going to be this akward.  I just figured that I had better make friends before the only two people I knew here diappeared into a bedroom together."  Ashley said looking around the room akwardly.
"This has gotta be weird for you.  But if it makes you feel any better, I don't really
know anyone here either.  I just thought I did."  Madison answered back still circling the dance floor with the stranger. Ashley looked around at all the unfamiliar faces and a scared look crossed his face.  Madison looked up at him and smiled.
"So you're Jared's cousin.  Are you guys close?"  Madison asked.
     "Uh yeah kinda."  He answered.
     "Then I am sure
you will adjust quickly here."  Madison said.  The two made their way into the other room and sat together on a couch.
"Look, I know that you don't know me, but are you okay?"  He asked looking at Madison who avoided eye contact.
"Um...I, I better go.  Nice to meet you."  She muttered putting her coat on and swiftly walking toward the door.
