The Boot Scooters technically started on Sept 18,1995 as a line dance class for some co-workers that wanted to learn the fine art of line dancing, just for fun and exercise. Then the instructors Dick & Laverna Vargeson were asked by other groups to teach them and it eventually snowballed into five different areas 5 nights per week.At first we had many places to go dance and show what we had learned. Then as the line dance craze faded a little we were without any place to "perform". This is when we became the "FUN Country" Boot Scooters and the thought of doing demos for nursing homes, special events, and whoever else wanted some entertainment came to mind. Then we started dancing in parades. We started these performances in the summer of 1997. We have won many awards, trophies, and cash prizes since that time. During this period many dancers have come and gone and only the dedicated dancers committed to staying healthy, having "FUN" are still showing up week after week, demo after demo, parade after parade. We have approximately 50 dancers in three locations at this time.Galeton, &Wellsboro in Pa. and Wellsville in NY. We have become like a large extended family to each other and often help each other at various tasks asking nothing in return except friendship.
We will perform at any function that is worthwhile, free of charge.
We especially love to perform at nursing homes for the people that can't get out. It's a very rewarding time for all of the dancers.
