Hockey Pool Rules

 

1. 10/team to play.  No limits to the number of teams.

 

2. Each week, each manager must pick a team to win straight up on the Saturday schedule of games.  Failure to make a pick results in elimination!

 

3. Once a manager picks a team, they cannot pick that team again in future weeks (exception is in the play-offs) if they advance.

 

4. It is the manager’s responsibility to send their picks in by e-mail no later than 12:00pm(noon) on the Saturday of the games.  Picks sent in after this time (i.e. 12:01pm or later, e-mail time stamp) will not be accepted.  Failure to send their picks on time will eliminate them from the pool.  The administrator is not responsible for reminding managers to send in their picks.  An automatic reply message will be sent back when the Administrator receives your pick(s).  If you do not receive this reply back, re-send your pick(s)!

 

5. It is each manager’s responsibility to keep track of the teams they have already picked.  Picking a team that has already been used in previous weeks will result in the elimination of the entry.  The pick can be changed up until the submission deadline.  Changes will only be accepted for this reason.  Valid submissions cannot be changed once I have received them.  I will not inform managers of repeat picks.

 

6. Picks must be sent in by e-mail.  If you don’t have access or capability to do this, make alternate arrangements with the Administrator.  You can have somebody else with e-mail access send your picks in for you.  Please send picks using the following format: User ID - pick.  In the subject line, type in “PICKS” or your UserID.  Only e-mailed picks will receive confirmations.

 

7. All game finals include overtime play as well as shoot-outs.  Team MUST WIN in order to advance!

 

8. If the pool continues past the regular season, managers will be allowed to pick any team that is playing in the play-offs despite previous picks.  If more than one manager remains after the entire season is completed, the pot will be divided equally among the remaining managers.

 

9. Winner(s) wins the pot less admin (1/team).

 

10. If more than two teams remain and they all lose in the same week, it will be considered as if they all won their games and they will all advance.  The teams they chose cannot be picked again as if they had won.  If only two remain and they both get eliminated in the same week, they will share the pot equally.  Also, once only two teams remain, they will be given the option only once to split the pot equally before the next set of games.  They must both agree in order to share the pot, otherwise, the pool continues until one wins or both win through mutual elimination!

 

11. If all entries get eliminated in the 1^st week, the pool will begin the 2^nd week, etc…

 

12. Updates will be available on the Internet at www.geocities.com/fun_pools no later than Tuesday 12:00pm (noon) after the games have been played.  Updates will not be available any other way.

 

13. E-mail picks to [email protected] or through the website.

 

14. The Administrator’s picks (if he has an entry or entries) will be posted on the “Current News” section of the relevant pool by each Friday at midnight.

 

15. Appeals will be accepted through e-mail only from the time the update is posted to the website until the following Thursday @ midnight.  Appeals after this time will no longer be considered and results are final!  In an appeal, please type in “APPEAL” in the subject line so I can give it priority over other matters.

 

16. The Administrator has the final decision in all disputes that may arise!
