The following was taken from a USGA publication.

A noteworthy change is the governing bodies' sanction of the use of distance measuring devives, including GPS-based systems and lazer rangefinders. New Decision 14-3/0.5 allows a Committee to permit the use of distance-measuring  deviices by Local Rule. This applies to devices that measure distance only, not any other conditions that might affect a player's play (e.g., wind or graddient). In the absence of such a Local Rule, the use of a distance-measuring device remains contray to the rules.

Another change that I would hope we would adopt, is as follows.
The USGA Handicap System manual has been updated to allow
golfers to post all scores for handicap purposes via the Internet as
long as their club's Handicap Committee adopts that policy.

If you would like to have something,
golf or club related, posted here. Send
e-mail to [email protected] and I am
sure their will not be a problem posting it.

Cited in the year end awards voted on by the IGA board of directors was Fulton [ILL] Country Club superintendent Kurt McCaulley, who was picked the IGA 9-hole Superintendent of the year.
   Congratulations, Kurt.

Thanks go out to all that helped on the January
28th work day. More of the trees next to the tee
boxes on #8 were taken down. We all ended up a little
wet from the rain but got a lot of work done.

There will be another work day on Saturday,
February 25th
. 8:00  AM
