Storm Door Panels |

While camping we enjoy leaving our RV doors open to allow outside light in and to see our surroundings through the screen doors. Some days it is too hot or too cold and either the A/C or heat is running. What we really needed was a storm door. Pictured below is our solution. I purchased plexiglass and screen retainers from my local home improvement center. Measuring and cutting are relatively easy. I purchased a plexiglass cutter $4.00 and used a carpenter's square (I used spring loaded clamps to keep the square from moving.) for the straight cuts and a variable speed jig saw to cut the radius corners. (Be sure to support the pleixglass really well so that the up down motion of the saw doesn't break the plexiglass.) I did a large upper panel, a small panel beside the latch slide and a large lower panel. It's not difficult - just take your time - measure twice - cut once. |

Close-up of retainers I did not use the screws that came with the retainers. I purchased stainless screws that are only 3/8" long. |

Notice that the screen material is still in place. The plexiglass panels can be removed to use the screen doors for ventilation. Now we can enjoy the great outdoors regardless of the temperature. |
