RV Water Filter System
Water quality, taste and smell  varies from one campground to another.  This is a cost effective solution for improving water quality for the entire RV as it is installed in the hose connecting the RV to the outside water source.  Cost for components is approximately $40.00.  Replacement filter cartridges are approximately $5.00 each.

I have chosen a generic household water filter available at your local home improvement center.  This is a high flow filter which should not adversely affect water pressure and flow.  Your regulator should be used in line with this filter to protect your plumbing.   I have also created a filter stand made from 1" Schedule 40 PVC  which is also readily available and inexpensive.  This stand can be placed under your RV to keep it cool.  Be sure to see the
UPDATE at the bottom of the page.

UPDATE:  05/07/2005
After doing major remodeling to the inside of the coach, we decided we would like to have the filter inside so that we do not have to connect and disconnect at each setup.  One of the modifications we did was to put a cabinet over the pipes where the city water connection comes into the coach.  This created an excellent are to house our whole house water filter.  Below are pictures of the cabinet and the water filter installed in its new home.
