Bike Rack
Build & Installation
Problem:
A bike rack is needed when camping.  The travel trailer manufacturer doesn't recommend a bike rack on the rear bumper.

Solution:
A-frame mounted bicycle racks on travel trailers are available.  The problem is the cost is out of my budget, so I decided to design my own.  The final cost was less than $50.00.

Installation:
1.  Remove Propane tanks and bracket  temporarily  to allow easy access to the work area.

2.  1" square steel tubing was purchased at the local Home Depot and cut to 64".  The length was kept as short as possible to reduce leverage

3.   Two 8.5" pieces of flat steel and galvinized 6" L-bolts were  used to attach the support bars vertically to the 6" boxed A-frame.

4.  Angle iron was used to create two cross members for stability and were bolted to the vertical supports.  12" galvanized  L-bolts were attached at the top of the vertical bars to support the bicycles.

5.  (Not pictured) Pipe foam was placed over the bike support to prevent scratching bicycles.  Mounting bolts were cut off and hardware painted black.
