Resistance fighters confront the "Orwellian" presence of the world-dominating UNICOM Corporation in this futuristic story of sci-fi action and thrills.

Rebels Tyson (Paul Ganus) and Arren (Megan Ward) suspect their remote TV station has been infiltrated by a Synthoid, a UNICOM robot that looks and acts human, yet is programmed to kill.  They discover the deadly Synthoid - and discover, too, that terminating the relentless humanoid is virtually impossible.  Arren, however, has an ace in the hole: a dormant 80-foot robot she's reprogrammed and brought back to life for a desperate showdoan of machine vs. machine.  But even after one Sythoid is destroyed, there may be others...

Liner Notes

A question I am frequently asked is how I approach composing a score.  While there may be similarities in the process from one score to the next, each film dictates it's own method.

In the case of CRASH AND BURN, there were certain things which spoke loudly to me, those being the sense of a desolate post-nuclear war future, the human need for contact being interrupted by two synthoids who were thought to be human and friends of the small group and finally the gigantic robot constructed for warring purpses.

These three elements comprised the foundation from which I could begin working.  Ultimately this allowed me to compose:

1. The setting, illustrating this desolate future with a lonely theme played by an English horn.

2. The human contact and betrayal, shown by using thematic motifs and string clusters with a pulsating bass drum coming in and out creating a very tense and frightening effect.

3. The use of timpani in a slow deliberate ostinato against large brass chords illustrating the titanic, majestic and somewhat sad nature of technology which had outlived it's purpose.
