Stuart Gordon Cult filmmaker, Stuart Gordon first gained notoriety in his senior year at the University of Wisconsin for staging a nude, psychedlic version of "Peter Pan". He left college a few months short of graduation. Gordon went on to form the Organic Theatre in 1969, and oversaw dozens of unique plays, including David Mamet's "Sexual Perversity in Chicago". He left the theatre in 1983 and made his film debut with Re-Animator, a deliriously grotesque, but very funny, adaptation of a story by H.P. Lovecraft, which was a surprise commercial and critical hit. Gordon returned to Lovercraft again for From Beyond, then tackled murderous dolls in Dolls, post-apocalyptic fighting machines in Robot Jox, a graphic retelling of The Pit and the Pendulum, and a high-tech futuristic prison in Fortress. Gordon also co-wrote the story of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and was co-executive producer on its sequel, Honey, II Blew Up the Kid. Return to Biography |
