Even those of you who arent total Slayer nuts will probably get a kick out of this. The band sounds great even after all these years.One of the reasons Slayer has maintained their rabid fanbase over the last two decades is because they absolutely kill in a live setting. Still Reigning's production is waay better than their last dvd, War at the Warfield. Better camera angles, clearer sound and a much stronger performance.
I think Dave Lombardo's return to the band might have something to do with their increased energy. The man is like hurricane playing drums and is totally unpredictable. Tom's voice sounds almost as diabolical as it did on the actual Reign In Blood. Kerry and Jeff trade off their howling, unorthodox solos with ease and Kerry even busts out his old school spiked armband. Nothing beats seeing "Piece by Piece" "Altar of Sacrifice" and "Criminally Insane" performed live. During the final song, it literally is "Raining Blood" as the band is covered in fake blood falling from the stage.
Once you finish watching the main feature you still get to see a special making of documentary filled with interviews with the band and extra bonus songs performed live such as "War Enesemble" and "Manditory Suicide." Seriously, an awesome dvd experience.
