| Anaal Nathrakh - Domine Non Es Dignus | ||||||
| Do you want some realy devasting black metal? Look no further than Anaal Nathrakh's latest release Domine Non Es Dignus. This record has been destroying my stereo for the last few months and I've just barely gathered the strength to write a review. After the creepy noise/guy vomiting intro ends, "The Oblivion Gene" kicks in. Buzzsaw guitars, double bass and blast beats, etc etc. All the regular elements of black metal we've come to expect are here but its slighty tweaked and sounds even more vicious. Not to mention the vocals sound like the bastard child of Pig Destroyer and Darkthrone only more pissed off than both its parents! "Do Not Speak" continues the onslaught but adds some amazing clean vocals to the mix. The riffs are just plain lethal. Lightning fast at times, with the occasional heavy breakdown and always sharp as a fucking knife. The drumming is outstanding although I'm not sure if its an actual person or not. The problem I had with their last record was the messed up drum sound. On The Codex Necro, it sounded waaay too much like a drum machine (even though it was...I still dont want it sounding like techno) but on this new record it sounds nice and "real." Did I mention these songs are fast? HELLA fast. "Procreation of the Wretched" starts with a crossover/punk rock vibe before it reaches the 0:29 second mark and bolts off into speed freak land. Its the band's unual take on traditional black metal that has me foaming at the mouth. Incorporating, traditional metal solos and clean vocals with disgusting grindcore-isque gurgles and random stomping breakdowns, Anaal Nathrakh are truly frightening yet innovative.
