The man credited with the creation of HYDRA was Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker. Hitler, Infuriated by Strucker's defeats by Sgt. Nick Fury, ordered his secret police to assassinate Strucker. Having little hope of escape he turned to one of the most powerful men in the third reich, the Red Skull. Strucker escaped to Japan with a small band of The Red Skull's men and a number of his own loyal troops. Strucker made contact with Japanese agents who were forming a secret society bent on world conquest. Strucker rapidly took over the running of this organisation. He planned and led raids on major war plants and military equipment storehouses throughout the world. This secret society became known as HYDRA.
