During the 1940's, costumed crimefighters assembled at the request of president Roosevelt to form a super-powerd team to beat back Adolf Hitler's planned invasion of England at Dover. After helping with the war effort, the original Atom, Dr. Fate, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Hourman, Sandman and the Spectre remained united as the world's first super-hero team, The Justice Society of America.
