Live Action Roll Playing Game
If you asked a 100 people what Live Action Roll Playing (LARP) was you would probably get 100 different answers, but the one consistent thing you would find would be that in a LARP you take up the roll of a character and play it out with out a script and all in all it is a whole lot of fun.  I am going to give you the 101st definition of LARP.(My version)  It is a game that brings people who have roll played and people who are just getting started together.  It is a game that brings you away from rolling dice and writing number and throws you into the action.  The thing that I noticed first, and don't get me wrong I love table top games, is that in a table top game you slip into your character and roll play it out but you can never get so into your character that you realize with every move you make and every sword strike you parry it is really you doing it. You realy feel your muscles burn under after an intense combat. You will finally understand why they have an encumbrance in the other games after spending five minutes battling it out with an Ogre while you are wearing a full suit of chain mail.  In a LARP you are the one behind the sword playing out your character and the goblins aren't a bunch of 1d8 creatures in you imagination but right there in front of you holding their own swords and axes waiting to drop them down on you.  All in all what I am getting at is when you roll a dice to see if you hit is one thing but it is a whole new ball game when you have to really hone your skill to hit what you are after.

And that friends is my version of LARP in a nut shell
