Rouge Concept

Project 5.0 Mustang
I have finally come up with a plan on how to build my 91, 5.0. However, this project will be accomplished one step at a time and will be a long term project. It takes lots of time and money to improve performance. I will strart out by upgrading it naturally until I start falling short in power gains. This I expect will take me to the 400 to 450 horses. Then I will think about power adders; turbos, superchargers, and nitrous are all options. At this point the motor has gone through a rebuild and a few basic mods, so it is not completely stock. I have made a list of these mods.

Engine: 302 Stock Block, forged pistons and

rods, rebuilt Windsor heads.

Ignition: Accel performance distributor, Ford Racing

8mm wires, MSD Blaster coil, Bosh 4 plenum plugs.

Induction: Stock upper and lower intake, 65mm Edelbrock

throttle body, 65mm mass air, 3 BBK cold air intake.

Exhaust: Ford Racing shorty headers, 2.5 catback

dual exhaust w/H-pipes, dynomax mufflers.

Transmission: Rebuilt T5, Adjustable clutch kit

w/aluminum quadrant.

Suspension: Energy Suspension upper and lower control

arms, full length subframe connectors, 2.5 BBK lowering kit,

BBK caster camber adjustable kit.

Brakes: Stock; front discs, rear drums.

 Body: 91 GT stock body.

New Flex-A-Lite

Old belt fan and shroud.

New battery.

Upgrades

Cooling system upgrade: Electric engine fan

I have upgraded the Mustangs cooling system by installing a flex a-lite black magic electric fan. This does not add any more power to the engine. However it releases the power that is used by the stock belt fan to the wheels. This in turn will give the car more torque to the wheels, improve acceleration, and also gas milage by about 1-2 mpg. I also changed to a new battery since the old was was starting to charge low.
