LLOYD KAUFMAN INTERVIEW - PART 3.
BLAKE :
What's next for Troma?
LLOYD :
Well, probably going out of business. Being killed off. We've been talking about this for a long time. If our fans are listening out there, they ought to go out and buy every up every dvd they can find, or every Troma video, because we ain't gonna be around. We've never been more famous, but we've never been more boycotted by the establishment.
That's one thing that's next for Troma. I end my book with killing myself but I don't have the guts to really do that, so it won't happen.
Plus I want to be around to torture Michael Herz for the rest of his days.
We have a new movie called Tales From The Crapper that we're working on. Everybody's in that. That's like a re-union Troma movie. Newfound Glory...the band. Trey Parker, Ted Raimi, Joe Fleishaker, Ron Jeremy. Everybody who's ever been associated with Troma pretty much is in it. Lemmy is not in it. He's stuck in England. Apparently he can't get into the States because of this terrorism bullshit. But hopefully we'll get him in. It's the first Dogpile '95 doctrine of digital filmmaking movie that's a narrative movie.
There's a dogpile95.com . You can learn about the Dogpile 95 doctrine of digital filmmaking under which we've made Farts Of Darkness - The Making Of Terror Firmer , Apocalypse Soon , and All The Love You Cannes. These are feature length documentaries.
But
Tales From The Crapper is the first narrative Dogpile 95 movie that we have made. But there are a lot of movies that have been made under the Dogpile 95 doctrine of filmmaking. We announced the doctrine at the Cannes film festival in 2002. We felt that Lars Von Trier's Dogme 95 doctrine of digital filmmaking was not democratic enough. It was very idealistic and well intentioned, and very much  supporting independant art. But it was a little too limited. Not democratic enough.
The Tromadance film festival is something we put on every year,
and you might want to check it out on the Troma website. If there are filmmakers out there who would like to have their independant movies exhibited in Park City Utah during the so-called Sundance film festival, Tromadance film festival has no entry fee. Tickets are free, it's all free. This years Tromadance festival was much more international. We had filmmakers from  countries other than the United States. It's a very lovely film festival, and it takes place so that all the media who are obviously bored at Sundance take notice of the filmmakers who are exhibited at Tromadance. Any rate, Fulci Metal Jacket is the kind of alternative culture that Troma supports, and the Toxic Avenger is at your disposal. Hopefully he won't be disposed.
AND WE CAN'T HAVE THAT, SO I URGE EVERYONE TO BUY A COPY OF PROBABLY THE BEST VALUE DVD RELEASED THIS YEAR
WHEN IT COMES OUT IN A FEW WEEKS. 'CITIZEN TOXIE: THE TOXIC AVENGER PART 4' IS A 2 DISC SET, AND INCLUDES 'APOCALYPSE SOON'. THIS IS THE DOGPILE 95 MAKING-OF FEATURE LENGTH FILM. SO THAT'S 2 MOVIES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE. I KNOW I'LL BE PICKING UP A COPY WHEN IT COMES OUT.
