CULT FILM BOOKS
Here's a list of cult film books that I recommend if you want to find out more about your favorite films and filmmakers than you'll find on any website. To purchase these titles or find out more about them, just click on the title in question.
The Psychotronic Video Guide
Forget Leonard Maltin's big budget Hollywood biased movie guide, this is the one film book every fan of cult cinema must have. It covers everything from blaxploitation, to horror, to kung-fu. You name it, it's in here. This has the most reading mileage of any book I own.
The Zombies That Ate Pittsburgh
If you're a fan of the films of George A. Romero, you can't go past this one. It covers the making of Night of the Living Dead, Martin, Monkey Shines, and everything in between.
Cult Horror Films
Full of more lengthy reviews than your average reference book. This inspired the layout of Fulci Metal Jacket reviews.
All I Need To Know About Filmmaking I Learned From The Toxic Avenger
The title is very misleading, and won't teach anyone much about filmmaking. It is however a pretty damned funny autobiography by Troma president Lloyd Kaufman. Full of funny filmmaking anecdotes, and toilet humour.
Make Your Own Damn Movie!
Lloyd Kaufman's next book. Hopefully as good or better than the first.
Mondo Macabro
Covers weird and wonderful cinema from around the world, like Turkish Star Wars, and At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul.
