Chelsey Nakao, Dairi SHS, 2004/11/11 Christmas Zip file 398 kb (containing 4 Word files) Level: intermediate Grades: 1 Time: 45-50 minutes Topic: Christmas Skills developed: speaking / listening / reading / writing Short Description: This is a fun Christmas activity for mid-level ichi-nensei students. The content is a bit juevenile but the students enjoyed the festive atmosphere and forgot that they were actually learning something. This lesson has a listening activity (listening to xmas songs and filling in the blanks) and a reading and writing activity (writing a letter to Santa) and a speaking activity (students must read their letters aloud the to class). I dressed up as Santa and gave the students prizes for reading their letters aloud. This was a good incentive to get them to talk. I also played xmas music in the background while they were writing their letters to lighten the mood. This is a good lesson to encourage students to relax around the ALT and have fun. My students really enjoyed seeing me with a beard. It was a nice break from my everyday mustache.
