| My Life in SAS from 1947 to 1980 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I joined the Danish Airline DDL at the end of the war. Started flying the DC.3 aircraft around Europe. Mostly around Germany as the German Airline was not yet established Flights to London and Paris took three to four hours. After a ground stop of one hour it was back to Kastrup. So seven to eight hours flight per day at below 10,000 feet was the normal and out again next day. Navigation by map reading and the radio officer getting fixes. Landing in poor weather by the use of Radio Range Signals, Radio Beacon NDB's or the Standard Beam Approach SBA system as it was called. |
