"Insomnia"
Sleep used to come with great ease I could go to sleep whenever I pleased
Now sleep is more difficult to come by It's hard to fall asleep, and I know why
I can't fall asleep while thinking of you But why fall asleep? I don't want to
The sound fo your voice rings in my head As I lie (wide) awake in my bed.
I think about the warmth in your eyes While the moon moves across darkened skies
The crickets chirp a cheery tune Under the spotlight of the moon
I dream while awake and let a sigh As slowly hours creep by
The land is dim and the sky is gray Outside the opposum and racoon play
I lie there putting my thoughts in poem Expressing myself with paper and pen
With sleath sleep overcomes my will At last I rest, my mind is still.
