Chapter 1: The Encounter

"Okay Hotaru are you sure you know where you're gong?" Yuki Ayashi asked, as she looked around the dark eerie forest.
"Um, not really, but have I ever steered you wrong before?" Hotaru Densetsu asked as she turned around to look at her best friend.
Yuki stopped and placed her hands on her hips an annoyed looked played on her pretty features.
"Hotaru for all of the years I have known you, you expect me to answer that?" Yuki asked.
"Okay… maybe you shouldn't answer that." Hotaru said as they continued to make their way further into the forbidden forest.
"You know that if anyone catches us they'll boot us out of this town."  Yuki reminded.
"Yeah I know." Hotaru replied. Yuki never was the worry wart neither of them was, but they never did anything that put their lives on the line. The wind howled through the bare branches of the trees, Hotaru shivered and they continued forward. The only like guiding them was the light of the flashlight that Hotaru was holding in her shaky hands. Both girls gasped at the sound of a hooting owl, Yuki laughed nervously.
Both girls were sixteen and at the prime of their lives, or so they thought.
Yuki was small with jet black hair which reached down to her waist and was always in a ponytail with two wisps of hair framing her small face. Her Asian violet eyes darted here and there prepared to fight if needed. Though she was small she was strong and knew how to fight, maybe being small has its advances. She also knew magic but she was better with her fists then with magic.
Hotaru was the taller of the two, she had black hair with red streaks which flowed down to the middle of her back, and her green eyes glowed from the light of the Flashlight. Her chocolate colored skin was covered in goose bumps caused by the harsh cold winds.  She was strong and could fight, but not as well as Yuki. Hotaru was more of a magic person, which you could say was her forte. Both were also blessed with the right amount of curves in the right places during puberty. They never considered themselves beautiful maybe pretty, but never beautiful but the boys told them different.
"Hey what's that?" Yuki whispered loudly and pointed a finger at a small cave a few feet in front of them.
"You wanna go check it out?" Hotaru asked.
"Sure why not we've already broken a dozen rules why not one more?" Yuki said. As they got closer and closer Yuki noticed a soft red glow on the rocky walls of the cave.
"It looks like someone lives here" Yuki whispered, and Hotaru nodded. You could hear the dripping of water hit the ground and echo into the cave; sometimes you would hear the ruffle of wings above. "It's so cold." Yuki said and started rubbing up down her small arms.

"Shh." Hotaru said and placed a finger against her full red lips. Yuki nodded and soon they were met by the soft cackling of the fire.
"Ah Yuki, Hotaru I've been expecting you." said a small old lady hunched over the fire pouring random colors of sand into the fire turning the flames different colors.
"Hey, how did you know we were coming?" Yuki asked.
"And how do you know our names?" Hotaru asked putting her flashlight down and sitting on a log.
The lady smiled a toothy grin, "I know many things my dear, and I know you are here to receive your destiny, your gifts, the world needs you." The old lady said and looked at both girls, as they gave her a confused look.
"Destiny, gifts?" Yuki asked and scratched her head.
"Yes, the world is in danger and is screaming for the help of its saviors to rescue us before it's too late." The old woman spoke and poured blue power into the fire making the fire burst into a blue flame.
"Saviors?" Hotaru asked and looked at the woman in disbelief.
"Yes, you have found me for a reason it is time to receive you gifts." The woman said and pulled out a bag containing crystals in different shapes and colors.
"Yuki." the woman spoke and Yuki stood up nervously.
"You will receive the gift of speed, allowing you to run in the flash of an eye from one spot to the other, but it will make you very tired and might make you very vulnerable in battle." The woman threw a crystal into the flame and Yuki was surrounded by wind, her eyes widened as her hair flew around wiping her face, and as soon as it started it left.
"Wow." she breathed.
"You will also receive the gift of flight, which let's you levitate, and fly only a certain distance." the old lady threw another crystal and this time Yuki hovered over the ground for a few seconds and landed, pure enjoyment written all over her face.
"And last but not least the gift of strength, which enhances your fighting abilities, and sword work but you will not be able to handle magic attacks. You can still cast magic." She threw in another crystal and a red glow surrounds Yuki and vanished, and a sword fell in her arms. The sword was huge with a golden handle adorn in jewels. Yuki eyes lit up and she smiled.

"Hotaru." the raspy voice of the woman said, and beckoned Hotaru closer. "Hotaru I give you gift of life, healing any wounds, or taking some of the pain away making you feel it, but there are something's you can not heal." Warned the lady as she threw in a crystal, a golden light rose from the fire and entered in Hotaru's mouth and her whole body light up. "You also receive the power of the mind, you can control minds to a certain point you can also read them, you can move things with you mind and get premonitions when you touch certain things, but not all premonitions tell you everything you want to know." Warned the lady and she threw in a crystal, a soft green glow swirled around Hotaru's head and entered her ears.
"And last but not least the gift of magic, which enhances you magic abilities, you will still be able to fight but not as well as you magic." The lady said and this time threw in a handful of purple powder, the flame turned purple and a bracelet flew out. "This is your bracelet of magic, while wearing this you magic abilities will enhance greatly, but don't let you enemies get a hold of it." She warned as her put on the bracelet.
It was golden with seven different colored stones engraved in it. First was blue, the power of water. Next was red, the power of fire, her personal favorite, then was yellow, thunder. Then followed white, ice, and then was green, the power of earth. Then was black the power of the curse, followed by sliver, charm. Hotaru moved her wrist back and forward admiring it as it glittered in the light.
"Now that you have gotten your gifts it's time to learn your destiny." The woman said as she threw golden power into the fire.
"Thousands of years ago in a time were machines didn't rule the world, people only relied on strength and magic. A time when witched existed. The strongest witches of all called themselves 'God saviors'. Their names were, Tabitha and Molly, two friends.  They believed that God sent them so they could save the world, but others thought differently. They were feared all over, their mission was to defeat the evil Lord Akuma. Who planed on ruling the world and turning it into a living Hell, literally. In the end they were burned at the stake alive." The woman said and threw in a handful of powder into the fire once more.
"So you're saying that we inherited their powers?" Hotaru asked.
The woman nodded "yes."

"And were saving the world from this evil Lord Akuma guy?" Yuki asked. The woman nodded again, "but there's a price to pay" the woman mumbled. "You guys will never be the same, you will be feared, and enemies will attempt to hurt, even kill you, you'll have to watch you backs where ever you go." The woman warned. "Good luck." she whispered and the fire blew out and she was gone.
"Well," Hotaru started as she picked up her flashlight. "It looks like we're gonna save the world and kick some ass in the process!" Hotaru said and smiled.

"It looks like this is the beginning." Yuki said sighed.
"I just hope that we know what we have gotten ourselves into." Hotaru said and Yuki nodded
