Happy New Year!! I personally had a very good new year with a whole bunch of other mzungu missionaries. I hope you all had an excellent new years as well. It's taken a while to finally get back to work after the holidays, but now finally everything is just about going again with the Church, and all the kid's ministry is almost underway again. Kid's Club starts up again this Sunday, the kid's cell starts again next Saturday. Saturday morning sports started this last Saturday. Sunday School never really stops. And it is a beautiful, bright shiny day that Im sure is going to hit like 30 degrees or something today. The big thing for this week is the Church is doing a week of fasting. I have never done a week of fasting before, but about three days has been my most ever. I have been praying that God would really help me with this, giving me strength and endurance to make it through. I actually started a little sooner than everyone else in the Church, having my last meal on Saturday night, and I won't be eating again until Sunday night or so. Definitely going to be a hard week, but every night there are these big prayer services at the church. I expect to be spending a lot of time with the Lord this week. Anyone who is reading this, if you are up for it, I encourage you to try it yourself. If you all find time to pray for me this week, I would definitley love that. I know God has already been helping me with this quite a bit. I can feel that I haven't eaten in a while, but I'm not really necessarily hunger. I just have a constant soft reminder. It's huge and very hard, but there is almost nothing quite as rewarding as fasting for the Lord, and truly fasting as were meant to. Read Isaiah 59 I believe for a good background in what fasting is meant to be. It seems incredibly hard, but what better way to bring in a new year than a week of fasting and prayer? Set your year upon the Lord and be guaranteed it will be a good year, not necessarily guaranteeing lots of blessings and success, but spiritually it will be a good year. So what else is going on? Not too much, just watching the time fly by. Especially when everything is fully going again, I know time is going to just whip by. Oh I did get a few pictures sent to me from my dad and aunt, so there is a couple new ones up on the photo album. I personally think my hair looks really stupid, but they're alright pictures just the same. No animal pictures yet, but Im working on it. I should hopefully get my labtop finally back within a week. It has of course been in repairs for virus issues for about two months now. The holidays tends to slow everything down. I believe I should have a bunch of packages waiting for me at the post office, but unfortunately there is only one key for our PO box, and the guy who has it as far as I know is still in Nairobi, Kenya. I am hoping he comes back home soon, because I would love to get a couple of those packages that I know are sitting waiting for me. Though on the other hand the temptation of getting them this week of fasting and discovering chocolate bars and things that are sure to be in them, perhaps it's best I am not able to get them just yet. Alright, not too much more to say, as the last three weeks or so have basically been holiday time, so life has been for the most part fairly uneventful for me. Ill report again once something interesting happens. I hope you are all having a good year so far, and may your year be a great year of growing in the Lord, may he bless you all continually and sustain you through all that may happen. Seek the Lord this year and receive a hundred times back of whatever you put in. I don't mean put $10 in the offering and expect $100 back from somewhere, but invest yourself in the Lord in every part of your life, and surely He will bless you for every ounce of yourself you invest more than you could imagine. The Lord is good and never, ever fails us. He is the rock upon which we can stand and the strong tower in which we find our refuge. Trust in Him and seek Him in all you do this year. Bye for now and God bless! |
