Movies... the way I like 'em. Yes, these are the movies that you can always depend on me watching. I will never say no to viewing any of these films over and over again. I can, will, and have watched these movies more than once in a day. I like them because I do, not because Johnny Hollywood says that it's the best fucking movie ever. So fuck off all you elitist pricks who can't just sit down and enjoy a movie because you like it. Gaw Damn.
CLERKS.
Why?: Not only is it funny, but I lived it. I, and anyone else who worked any kind of menial retail job, can identify with what these characters go through. But beyond any plot, it's just great to see how a film-maker can get together with his friends and put together an original film and end up making a pile of money and get a loyal cult following.
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Why?: Beautiful character design, settings and animation combine in an action movie that actually has a deeper meaning and more than one character you care about. Yoshitaka Amano's elegant drawings are captured so well in this film version of the classic Japanese graphic novels, that a still frame looks like it came right out of his sketch book.
Edward Scissorhands
Why?: Tim Burton's best movie... ever. Some people can look at this movie and see a simple story about a guy with scissors for hands... those of us with a heart can see a tale of innocence, of a unique individual who uses his difference to create wonderful things to be shared by all, only to be used and cast aside when the rest of the greedy world can't get what they want... I hate people. Another plus? No Mark Walburg... no monkeys... no shit.
Princess Mononoke
Why?: The best and most brilliant animated feature I have ever seen. One of my favorite aspects of this film, is that there is no real "villain", only different people who have different needs and see the world from a different perspective. For a fantasy, it sure captures what goes on in the real world quite well...
Moulin Rouge
Why?: Jeebus, I walked into the theatre not knowing what this movie was about. I had not seen trailers, read reviews, or even spoken to someone who knew about it. After ten minutes, I said to myself... "Holy Shit!!! This is a musical? with flashy costumes? and a romance story? huge dance routines? AND I LIKE IT??? ... hold on... phew, I still like women" One of the most original movies I have ever seen, and probably ever will.
Ghostbusters
Why?: This movie defined my childhood. When I was a kid, it was the greatest action/sci-fi movie ever. I lived, breathed, and ate Ghostbusters. I had the full costume that I not only wore three halloweens in a row, but also had in my regular rotation for formal events. When I was old enough to get the jokes, I realized it was really fucking funny. That, and thoughts of Slimer in bed with me got me through many a lonely night.
The Empire Strikes Back
Why?: If someone came up to me and said "I want to watch a Star Wars movie and then proposition lawn furniture for sex acts, which should we watch?" I would definately respond "The Empire Strikes Back, and for five dollars, I'll let you have your way with my patio set." When I was a kid, it would always have been
Return... and doin' the nasty with pvc chairs was only a nickel... but to quote Dante from my number #10 movie "It ends on such a down note, and that's what life is, a series of down endings... all Jedi had was a bunch of muppets."
The Blues Brothers
Why?: Besides the fact that this is the best duo to hail from Chicago after Oprah's luscious black booty, they are also the most talented. The movie is funny, and has great music and performances. But one thing that really gets me is that after all the outrageous humor, the movie depicts a gritty realism of the down and out, just trying to make it another day. This is yet another film on my top ten list that was written by Dan Akroyd, this movie had a similar problem with Ghostbusters... it spawned a weak sequel that mirrored the original too much.
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Why?: R.P. MacMurphy is played so well by Jack Nicholson, Louise Fletcher is so cruel as Nurse Ratched, and all the "nuts" are so well acted by so many famous celebrities from the comedy world, it's fun realizing who they are because they are so young. The struggle between the free-willed MacMurphy and the straight-laced Ratched makes you realize the importance of self, and free will. Also, this is one of THE MOST parodied movies on my favorite TV show, The Simpsons.
Lon
Why?: Beautiful cinematography, superb acting, and a top-notch love story make this my number one pick for a movie. The title character is not only the best hitman I have ever seen in a movie, he is also the most real. Throw in Gary Oldman has the villain, and Natalie Portman in her first film (and also my first movie-star crush that was actually my age) And you have "winner" written all over it. I wonder if my latent Lolita complex has anything to do with it, as well?
Movies that gave me some trouble cutting from the top ten, but I still love all the same. Some have explanations as to why they were cut out in parenthesis. Please give them a big hand for the effort.

Star Wars (The one that started it and made a lot of pretty bells and whistles, but cinematography-wise is far under the rest) The Return of the Jedi (This one hurt to cut, and probably would share a tying place with Empire... but in the end... fuck the Ewoks.) A.I. (Too depressing... but I love it still) Ghost in the Shell (Beautiful movie... just a tad too short) Krull (Because I can still name five thousand movies I like better than this one.) The rest of the Kevin Smith "Jersey" films (I love 'em all, but had to pick the best representative, rather than group several different story-lines and plots together into one and say it's a movie) Back To The Future, Lawrence of Arabia (GREAT movie... I just can't watch it three times a day, mainly because a day only contains 24 hours), Jaws, L.A. Confidential, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Fight Club, 18 and Dripping, Volume 2

OK! ON WITH THE SHOW!!!!.....
