Cut, cut, cut!!!! I propose that we institute a flat tax, which will help the average American family save it's hard earned money. I suggest that we institute a national flat income tax of about 14%. I would also encourage the governors of the fifty states to follow my example, and cut taxes in their respective states. The income tax would be automatically be deducted from your regular paycheck, so filing taxes will become a thing of the past. I also would like to propose a national flat sales tax of only about 4%. I think that we should give Americans a choice as what to do with their money. For those who want their money to be put into Social Security, they could fill out a form stating this. The rest will be able to do whatever they wish with their money, be it investing or even putting it in the bank to collect interest for thirty years. This way, everyone will have more money to fall back on when they choose to retire. This, in turn, would stimulate people to further their education and job skills so that they can obtain a higher paying job, therefore, having more set aside for when they retire. Also, working single parents, those paying (or paying for someone) in college and those caring for one or both elderly parents would recieve tax breaks. With this system, the average family would be able to keep about 86% of their hard earned income and relegate the IRS to no more than a counting agency.
