Xiang Liao
Xiang in his first life as a Knight for Whitewolf
The Seat of the Gerstadt Government, The Tower oft called "Ice Fang"
Xiang in full combat gear for travel in the Meivan wastes and wherever else.
Xiang Liao is a complex  character who lived, died, and lived again, often taking himself to a risky brink that most dreamed of... it's ironic now that he's paying for the foolishness of his first life with the curse of having forgot the most important parts of his life, his marrige to Rowan, she was the other half to his traits the balance, if you will, so now in his second chance to make things right, xiang having most... but not all of his memeory has taken up residence in a local kingdom with the intent to firstly find out what he has been forced to forget.. and secondly assure he never makes the same mistakes twice.   -Digital Memories, Volume five

Basic Description
While the colors vary, Xiang's mode of dress is always intentionally non-descript, and often lacking in armor, however he does wear what could only be called an armor vest under his shirt at times. The biggest feature you would notices is that he goes to great effort on average to NOT wear any identifying symbols regalia or for that matter national colors.  Typically Xiang simply wears a basic outfit firstly consisting of a simple white button-front shirt which  more often then not Xiang has the sleeves rolled up on exposing his elbow length gauntlets. Secondly are Xiang's even more simplistic canvas cloth pants which are dyed a dark blue,  the said paints trail all the way down until they are cuffed into Xiangs boots. The aforementioned boots are sort of a mix between the standard of rangers and travelers and those worn with full armor by knights, these boots featuring metal ankle, heel and joint guards for the sake of protecting the vital joints in the foot and heel.  Occasionally Xiang is seen sporting a long coat when it gets colder the said coat being a definite dark slate gray in color, and being long enough to go down to his knee, quite visibly on the outside the coat has four pockets while the inside has six others.

Items
Morphic Familiar
This strange type of familiar is an odd life from only available to those who successfully complete full schooling and training from the Mages's college Xiang attended early in his life. The creatures themselves in natural form take the shape of floating spheres, cubes or diamonds of shifting mercury and despite their appearance are very self aware and intelligent. The Morphic has a few important and extremely useful abilities that make it indispensable.
-The Owner of this familiar doesn't loose preps due to combat actions against him. However, if a spell is cast that specifically effects the owner's gathering of power the prepping may be interrupted.
-Spells also cast against the familiar are reflected back on the caster unless it is the owner of this familiar
-The Owner of this familiar may if possessing enough preps to cast the spells singularly can cast up to five spells off of the proper amount of standing preps.
However this effect adds +1 prep to that total.
(I.e. if Xiang wanted to cast 5 'shock' spells each costing 1 prep each, the total would cost 6 preps, including the cost of lumping the spells.)
-The Morphic familiar may change its form at the owner's whim to any one of five separate pre-set weapon forms all of which has certain effects on how the familiar does its job.
- Scythe (allows for the high-end spirit energy effects.)
- Halberd (General Use. is about 6'6" long.)
- Knight Blade (Better casing stability with lightning effects.)
- Mace (Heavy weapon, allows for stronger earth based effects.)
- Tiger-Hook Sword (an elegant weapon, it is a rather ruthless weapon but only in skilled hands, it allows for easier use of acceleration effects)
- Razor-Chains (a brutish weapon as it's name indicates, the familiar forms a number of silvery chains edged with razors and barbs that may end in hooks or spikes, these are rather brutal to use, and to date xiang can only seem to direct four of the said chains.)

Jaeger Boots
These boots are a recent addition to Xiang's arsenal, while in practice they look like normal traveler's footware, and albeit the ankle, and foot protection provided with the armor plates incorporated into them they bear one particular advantage. The Jaeger boots enhance the wearer's abilty to climb vertical surfaces and grant a slight boost in jumping ability. While the effects that allow this are a bit unclear, the boots so far have served xiang well in a number of his own misadventures.

Rama-Stone Wakizashi (2)
Slow etched from the gem itself these exquisite works of art are as deadly as they are beautiful, the small weapons are purely made of the Rama stone itself except the cloth grip-wraps. The big advantage is that the edge cut into these blades never dulls  and as such if stored blade down eventually they will cut their way out of their sheathes. Each one is approximately 2.25 feet long and while not built for throwing can be thrown. The best feature of these weapons is their immunity to magic, they just seem to absorb it or cut through it, the only noticed effect being that they get more colorful with more contact. These weapons are kept in a double overlay holster hung on an arc off the back of Xiangs belt they mostly sit atop each other and this are primarily out of the way but can very easily be drawn for combat.  Thank Gin Blossom for the inspiration to build these nice toys...it was her idea in an early rp a while back.

Rama-Stone Throwing Razors (6)
Another Gin Blossom inspired weapon, these little guys are the remnants from the wakisashi project and are thin throwing weapons each one is pressure grinded to have as sharp an edge and anti-breakage factor as possible, they are perfect for throwing in clusters and can puncture most coming armors up to the medium standard thickness, though plate mail is harder to break through in general. The throwing razors are hidden in four separate locations, two of which being leg holsters hidden near the belt line, each of these containing two razors a piece. The other two razors are hidden in two holsters within the sleeves of his coat or as the case may be shirt.

Character Notes

"His Age and that Multiple Lives Thing."
Xiang was actually born almost two centuries ago in the The burning lands, the sole stable member of a family that annually celebrated their dominance as a ruling caste with blood sacrifice and depravity. Murder and insanity was the norm for his family; However Xiang was different and at first change he snuck to the docks and got a transport here, arriving in the ports of Furrabia with little more then the clothes he wore.
In the time it took him to live his life, and perish of s a stroke at 36, which even to this day is unheard of prompting some to suspect foul play. Xiang had friends, enemies, allies, a wife (Rowan) and even a son (Kiro, adopted).
The most interesting ally came in the form of the Mysterious being who only wished to be known as Dark Jackal, while the meeting was passing in life. Little did Xiang know that in death he'd see the stranger again and learn the truth, the stranger was a deity masquerading as a local, and Xiang was given three choices all of them interesting. The first choice was to be judged like anyone else and reap whatever rewards he deserved in the afterlife, the second was to be plunked down in purgatory or limbo as some call it, for a long while until his shot at reincarnation rolled in. But thirdly was the option to take the role of one of jackal's inquisitors...
Xiang considered the choices and...took option two.
That whole purgatory shtick wasn't so bad, that is until he wanted to take a peek at the ones he'd left behind, some simply let time do it's worst and perished, but the worst blow to Xiang was seeing his wife let herself fall apart and fade away in the two years after his own death...then insult to injury was to watch his son die as a result of his experiments and to hear Kiro's last words seconds before he annihilated himself and his beloved town by accident. "Forgive me father..." was the last painful words Xiang ever heard his son say.
Seeing this was a new form of torture and now Xiang had to go back...to make things right, but how would he do it, certainly not becoming that deity's puppet...? For once in his life Xiang not only had a cunning plan but...the way he saw things changed.
Xiang made a rather gutsy deal with the deity, something so utterly unexpected and totally off the wall Dark couldn't say no... However he managed to make a surprising two stipulations...the first being that Xiang would have to prove his worth for life by breaking through a partial memory loss of that which he cared for most. Secondly, Xiang would owe dark big, and when dark would put out a summons a singular summons Xiang would have to come and assist for a term...Of course Xiang only heard the second bit... he was already rushing to life... he had no idea he'd have to break through a loss of memory regarding his wife...and thus his second life began.

"Part-Demon?!"
Xiang is half demon now if you know demons you may ask just how thats possible I mean was one of his parents a demon type or something? In short the answer is a resounding no. He is deemed part demon because he was not born with it, his demonhood is a direct result of a blood transfusion by his late brother Minobu Gata-Jutsu who was in fact a trueborn half-demon. Xiang got badly injured in a bout with Draconus Raven and Nyar and almost died of wounds had it not been for Minobu; the aforementioned transfusion is what made them brothers also. However Minobu couldn't have known that the blood would take over and be the only thing in Xiangs veins today, which is how he went from 1/8th demon to 1/2 demon over the years... by no means he hasn't been corrupted but it has had some odd side effects.
- Immunity to fire
- Immunity to Heat
- Regenerates (1/6th of all damage per turn, cannot attack or prep while regenerating.)

"The Dead-Eye"
The eye refers to another side effect of his stint in limbo, Xiang has a dark crimson, left eye which is basically linked to his ability to see on several energy spectrum, but primarily the Spirit spectral range which makes a lot of magical effects noticeable to his sight, he can also apply truth sight by reading the spirit emanations from a given target.

"Part Demon?  II"
So some folks have asking what this means still, but moreover, what it means in relation to the terms 'Archaic Xiang' and 'Modern Xiang' the answer is moderately easy. The two terms refer to the times before and after xiang stopped trying to contain the demon nature within. Modern Xiang refers of course ot the here and now.. after the point at which xiang simply said to hell with it and let that demon half run loose... it hasn't made him evil...but it has changed his awareness... and ironically he gets more death threats from local ministires and such...even if he is a one of the good guys.

Character Updates

This small area was added to contain recent additons to the character or his arsenal since recent RP events have  made it a bit necesary to indicate whats new over the wealth of old information.

The Artificer's Lock

Simply put the 'lock is in all design and purpose a wheel lock which historically was the precursor to any modern firearm of today, however these german-made weapons were historyically hard to repair, but reliable enough that soldiers could go on long larches with them armed and not fear for it's accidental discharge unlike the snaphaunce of the day.  The Artificier's lock however in contrast is the result of about three years of IC R&D work by xiang himself, the project was a secret back burner until he encountered the assasination attempts in Mist Valley and the mysterious substance known as 'Blackstone'. Xiang managed to aquire a three ounce sliver of blackstone and promptly ground the substance up into a coarse power, a third of shich was sent off to be looked at by researchers in Gerstadt. The remaining two ounces where stored at Xiang's personal workshop where it was discoved his 'lock' could in fact use this power as a weapon, a devistating anti-magic user weapon. In that same long session in the workshop xiang also uncovered that one of the Meivan artifacts, which was found sitting in an buried storage atrium, was able to albeit slowly duplicate the blackstone material. By months end xiang had managed to boost his two ounces up to seven, allowing for full testing of the 'lock' to begin in a private range he had set up earlier on but had never been used. The firhgitng backfire effects were noted early on, but the weapon was still deemed 'combat-effective' and as such a special set of protective gear was designed to reduce the backfire...though the testing was a difficult thing.

Weapon specifications

Loaded weight: 32 lbs and, 4 ounces
Width: About 5' (at the widest point)
Length: 4 feet
Shots: 1 (very very much non-auto)
Range: 350 meters (max), 175 meters (effective), for the record, thats 116 feet max range, and 58 feet effective range
Muzzle energy: 2700 ft-lb
Bore Size .58 calliber
Munition Load:
-Gunpowder and Blackstone Powder: simply ground blackstone, that is ejected from the barrel in a roughly conical pattern, range is cut by half.
Method Of Loading: Muzzle

Rp Notes
-The firing pattern for the Powder form of ammunition is conical starting at the square in front of the player firing, and going a total of four squares.
-Powder Ammuntion has a Backfire effect it dumping about half of it's total damage on the user, due to a lack of full sealing in the rear of the barrel region.
-In the prototype stage the mechanisims within the 'wheel' portion of the weapon are delicate, excess jarring beynd that of pulling the trigger often knocks them out of line rendering the weapon 'combat-inoperable' until full repairs can be made.
- Due to the size of the weapon it you absulutely must mention in your post that are readying it, it's large and awkard, so you cannot fast draw it  with or without magic.
-The backfire itself is pretty nasty to the unprotected, however it's literally only half as bad as what the business end of the weapon is spewing, a literal hail of hot blackstone, which of course is impossible to direct to a specific point unless you have the muzzle planted firmly against what your aiming at.
- Reload time is 4 full turns, 8 for those inexperienced with the weapon, and it's impossible to reload for anyone not knowing the weapon at all.

Heres an Illustration of how it's supposed to work historically, thye link below is where the illustration came from.
A Pretty Detailed Historical description
The Main Site that the above image and Link Are from
Chaparral Armor  (Meivan Wastes RP only)

Devised during the first forays into the Meivan Wastes CA or chaparral armor was meant to be protective against the damaging effects of the wastes, the prototype, which is currently Xiangs personal armor proved to cumbersome for the testers even though Xiang didn't have any problems wearing it. In comparison to the 'light' armor provided to those who go into the wastelands under his employ, the prototype CA is almost a full suit, with two layers of armor and a cushion layer on the inside. The innermost layer is a layer of quilted cushioning, meant to wick perspiration and such, and making the wearing of the germanium chain mail layer of the armor bearable. Beyond that is the outer layer composed of Citadel steel, which in the case of the plating used for this armor which is unlike normal citadel steel a lighter alloy, which as a result makes the armor look like tarnished brass rather then black iron. When it comes to protection, this armor pretty much covers everything, even going so far as to add eye protection and a basic light cloth filter to the mouth opening.

Protection Level: 90%
Mobility: -50% (untrained), -25% (trained) , -10% (veteran user)
Average Protective thickness: about 24 mm or 3/4 of an inch {mostly due to bulk)
Effects:
- Negates ambient Meivan wastes corruption.
- 50% of puncture damage from crystals is negated.
- Allows safe handing of varied hazardous substances within reason for moderate periods
- Increases height of User 2"
- Increases Weight of User by 150 pounds.
- Limits user to carrying only three hand weapons all of which must either have a strap or some sort of sheath.
- Flexibility is of course reduced slightly.
-The armor has it's own resistance rating of 350 which all incomming damage is applied against first before Xiang takes any damage the said total isn't quite as high as it seems since it is in fact divided across the body locations as listed below.
Resistance By location
Head - 31
Left Arm - 28
Right Arm - 28
Left Torso - 31
Center Torso - 31

Chennault Armor  (Typical Armor)

Chennault armor was named for the place where it was first forged by Xiang himself upon embracing his demon side, it is an odd armor that is relatively form fitting and composed of the darkest citadel steel possible using a new forging technicle along with a new magical shaping technique tiurning the armor in reality into a mesh of linterlocking peices at the joints allowing flexibility that is nearly akin to that of one not wearing armor at all, while other points ont he armor are made of sliding plates anchors and hard points. The primary advantage tot he armor is it's protectivity and flexiliblty, not to mention the fact it is fully protective leaving the enemy few options on how to break through. The only conceivable problem comes in the form of repairs and misconception, most locals do not take well to someone in black armor passing through towns, and the armor if damaged badly can really only be repaired back in gerstadt, feild repairs are possible but usually after the campaign all the damaged ares have to be entirely replaced making this an expensive suit.

Protection Level: 80% (versus all attacks, magical or otherwise.)
Mobility: No known loss to mobility unless in water at waist height.
Average Protective thickness: about .40 of an inch.
Effects:
- Increases height of User 1"
- Increases Weight of User by 110 pounds.
-The armor has it's own resistance rating of 360
Resistance By location

Unusual Items

The strange things that xiang collects along the way are often worthy of note.

Ramadian Pocket Watch
This odd item was given to xiang by Rama herself at one point, and it serves as the most reliable mechanism he's had to date, it's a basic gear driven pocket watch that has survived drops extreme heat and extreme cold, it's pretty impervious to damage so long as it's spring is wound and such. On it's face, the date time year and such are displayed along with moon and sun phases.

FeatherCat Gunblade
Given to Xiang by None other then Gin Blossom, this item is an amazingly ornate side arm, it's about the size of a average pistol with an extremely beutiful blade extending below the barrel for another four inches, the blade itself actually when extended  forms a sort of targeting sight, while retracted it's a  trigger guard, on one side the item bears the inscription "To a long time freind, Xaing Liao" along  with Gin blossom's own family crest and the artisan's name.
