| The masterminds, aka purists, feilded a lot of interesting technology back in their day however in the modern era the vestiges of that technology garnered a new age of exploration and colonization in their new 'native' galaxy. The original intent of such advancement was not for peace time purposes but rather for a renewed attack upon their enemies in the galaxy they had long ago evacuated. Time does heal all wounds and within a hundred years, the urge to re-invande had left the minds of the collective. However the technological development still continued and here is a compilation of all the work over the last six centuries. | |||||||
| Luminal Drives LD's as they are commonly called are used specifically in military vessel construction, virtually no fighters have these however all the larger mastermind military ships have them. In function a Luminal drive works just like any other hyperdrive with one noteable expection, unless damaged or it's speed is limited by a tachyon governer they always propel the vessel ad an equivalent speed to a hyperspace rating of .75 which compard to say warp engine speeds would be warp 11. it is a good thing that more often then not mastermind vessels cannot pray to carry enough fuel to maintain the voracious appetite such engines rewquire and thus must replenish their H-fuel fairly often on long voyages. Adezio Jump Drives Slower then the super lumina drive but taking up less tonnage, the adezio jump drive allows instand jumps across 45 light years, however, that only makes it ideal for system to system transit. of course since it takes one day of charging via solar-magnetic sails per 5 lightyears travelled most consider it only ideal for commercial and civilian use. Beta-Laser Typically applied in both fighters and capitol vessels the betal laser is very similar in function to something like a phaser or a tubo laser. The distinction is that the betal laser is a chemical system combining two advanced and refined forms of oxygen and Iodine to make a high powered coherant beam. Mjolnir grade coil and rail guns The Mjonir siries is differentiated by where they are used, the coil-type mjolnirs are installed on fighters where space is a concearn while the larger mjolnir rail cannons are installed on capitol vessels. These weapons are everything one could expect from a rail weapon with two noteworthy exceptions, the first is that the capitol grade mjolnir ammunition has an ionizing jacket. The 'jacketed' ammunition of capitol-grade mjolnirs is designed to peirce sheilds in much the same way a torpedo might. Normally ionized rounds are used inthe opening shots of the fight to disable sheild generators and inflict tactical damage before an opponent can close enought aht the cannons must focus on delivering High-Explosive or HE playloads as well as low yeild nuclear payloads. The fighter-grade Mjolnirs use less sophisticated payloads relying instead on brute force and rapid reloading systems to inflict large amounts of damage to other fighter's sheilding. Cruise Disruptors The Masterminds long ago developed the 'battleaxe' grade engine kill missile systems but since then have gone a long ways towards perfecting and enhanceing the systems. Currently the Hornet class cruise engine class is capable of delivering significant engine disruption at reasonable ranges versus both hyperdrive, luminal and warp-type drive systems, however that does not preclude the possiblity the systems cannot be shot down enroute. Vespoid Artillery launcher The VAL system is a advanced from of the bombardier system seen inthe early first mastermind war. While only mountable on capitol ships this weapon fires a tightly packed spread of high yeaid matter-anti matter warhead missiles and paints the target with several homing beams providing constant course correction information to the missiles in flight. Equally useful for obrital bombardment as well as anti-vessel and station use the vespoid has proven rather effective. Outwardly one cannot tell a mastermind body from a normal humanoid one of whatever race the body is meant to match however deep medical scans can normally discern the 'strange' mass int he torso. Almost no onehas ever understood the basis of the technology except the masterminds themselves however in one particular galaxy they have likened it to a race of monks who transfer their brains to jars and place them in robot bodies. |
