An innovation of instructional technology called "Distance Education" has been introduced to the Philippines through the FOUNDATION FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE UNITED NATIONS (FSUN).
Distance Education is defined as an effective learning that requires educational materials, which can only be utilized with the broadband Internet. This aims to revolutionize the educational system and move us towards the global knowledge society where information skills and competence become the driving forces of social and economic development.   FSUN sees the problems associated with this transformation can no longer be solved with traditional educational paradigms. In this age, effective learning requires upgraded multimedia educational materials that can best be distributed using broadband Internet applications. The use of these must be efficient and cost-effective, allowing to foster global citizenship and achieving "education for all."
