Carol Thibodeaux -Jones 1983 [email protected] Would love to hear from all that remember me. Joanie Stone Chris Lung. Tammy Mallard. Sharon Amos. Scott Heames Kyra Adkins. Where is every one. I have 2 kids been married for 19 years. I am now in to property management. Happy, but I miss being young and the lack of responsibilty that goes with it. I wish to extend a heart felt "I am sorry to all"where needed. Please if any one is out there send me a quick hello 07/06 Joy (Price) Morriss 1978 [email protected] Dan pointed this site out to me a couple of years ago, and I've been reading the posts since then. Was happy to hear from Audrey Sullivan recently. Brings back a lot of great memories of a wonderful time in our lives. I'm married with 3 kids, 2 girls 23 & 20, and a son who will be 13(argh)this year, and one adorable grandson, who was born in January. I live in the piney woods of Longview in East Texas. We play a LOT of baseball, which doesn't leave a whole lot of time for much else. Would love to hear from folks, and Audrey, be sure and let me know about any reunions! Ciao! 07/06 Tom Ross 74 [email protected] Hi Folks, I haven't been here for a while so I thought I should leave an update. 3532 Pilgrim Lane, Plymouth, MN 55441 [email protected] Yahoo IM: [email protected] I am still a school Media Specialist and have been very active trying to facilitate technology in my school. I was unable to get the time off in the spring for the reunion in Napoli last spring, otherwise we would have been there, so instead we visited my daughter in China. I learned many things after that trip. 1. If I could work out retirement issues, it'd be very easy to teach overseas, 2. China has the fastest growing society of any I have ever seen, I think we could influence it for the better by being involved in the same way we were involved personally as kids at FSHS. We really were the ambassadors to Italy, even if the diplomats thought they were supposed to be. I think by living with them we were both a positive influence for friendship and we received the same gift. It's pretty easy to love the Italian people after all those years of learning about them. 3. I love this country and this way of life ever more as I age, what a gift we have been given, bought with the investment of those who went before us, I keep thinking..."God, I hope I am living a life worthy of their gift. 4. We are still the luckiest people on earth, to have been American citizens who could see at least a part of the world and understand that bigger picture and to love the life in the United State we have ever more. No doubt our parents bought us the best of both worlds... to be a US Brat overseas was a gift indeed. Write me if you want to stay in touch, I will reply. To Mike and Wayne and Tim and Ed and Kevin and Mike and Dave and Jay, Steve, Jon, Shelia, Mary and Nancy and Sue and Tina, all my buddies in school and to those sweet little ladies who wanted boyfriends before I had a clue as to what girls were all about and the folks in the Marine Biology Club and the Green Hornets and my precious teachers in fact to the entire classes of 71-76, what wonderful people you were. We lived in a world of magic, I will always love you. Wish I had more of a clue back then. 07/06 Mike Tietjens 1989 [email protected] Forza Italia! Forza Italia! Forza Italia! I remember celebrating in 1982 when Italy won the world cup (That year we were stationed in Verona/Vicenza) and partying until 5am the next morning. I can only imagine what it was like in NAPLES this year. Ciao Mike [email protected] http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/2006/ita-fra.html 07/06 George Petersen 1971 [email protected] --A strange history lesson... There is not a single Wildcat who can say their life wasn't forever changed by the experience of living in Italy. Why was this "fever"so potent to us and far less to American dependent kids who grew up in other countries like Germany? Well blame it all on Clare Boothe Luce, who was appointed the American ambassador to Italy by President Eisenhower in the post-war days. Unlike other countries, where most of the US personnel lived huddled (and semi-isolated) on bases, Clare's philosophy was to have the Americans act as good will ambassadors, learning to speak Italian and living among the Italian people. And even though her tenure as ambassador was short (ironically, she became very ill from arsenic poisoning from flaking paint chips in her villa), her policy remained in place for years. So if you wonder why we're different, just blame Clare Boothe Luce. 07/06 Jay Roorbach 1984 Forza Italia! Ciao tutti from Michigan. We were celebrating a great victory for the Azzuri over the French yesterday. What great memories of partying after the Italian World Cup victory in 1982! 07/06 Robin MacKay Heath 1987 [email protected] WOW! How many of you held your breath on Sunday watching Italia vs. France? Brings back amazing memories of '82. I can only imagine how insane they must have gone in Naples this weekend! The 4th of July also brings back memories of Festa Americana at Carney Park..who could forget that?? Jim Hartley 1987 [email protected] Here is some nostalgia. If anyone remembers a band called TOUS, there is footage available at the following link: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=AugustWeed There is footage from a concert in 1986 and another in 1987. If you were there during those years, you will notice a few faces in the crowd. We played mostly at the 8 1/2 club in Pinetamare (near the Bambusa). I've been able to contact everyone in the band except for the keyboard player. Band members are: Michael Copson (singer), Pierpaulo Borgia (guitar), Marc Monaro (drums), Gionni (keyboards), and Jim Hartley (bass). There is also some bonus footage at that link of a band called HTI for those who might remember. 07/06 david blakeley 1983 [email protected] ciao tutti! watching italia beat germany got me in the mood to check in again. i remember how crazy it was back in 82. hope we kick french ass this weekend. just moved to arizona and am not fully unpacked. cant find my addresses & phone numbers, so everyone please get back in touch. especially delatte & honan. i'm now an asst. principal at a juvenile prison here, so i'm unlisted, but send me an e-mail. cheers djb 07/06 Pierre Anderson 1970 [email protected] Hello Dear Friends,I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I am on the master list and would love to hear from any of you. Pierre 07/06 Joyce Jones 1971 [email protected] How many of us remember all of us of the wonderful fireworks and events we enjoyed as overseas dependents in Naples, especially at Carney Park, where we had a full day of events for the 4th. All I can say is that they had the BEST fireworks for both the 4th and New YearÂ?s. Freedom isnÂ?t free! Remember our soldiers in harmÂ?s way around the globe when you celebrate the freedoms we have. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I know that some of you were in Naples before Carney Park was built, but I wanted to share my memories and remind alumni of all the fun things we used to do to celebrate America's birthday while we were Remember spending the entire day at Carney Park watching ball games and eating hot dogs and hamburgers? Remember the messy egg toss contest? Fun to watch this with husbands & wivesÂ? Remember the officers vs. enlisted tug-of-war? Did you ever participate in the pie-eating contest? -- I have photos of some of you!! Remember donkey softball? Interesting game when they had a mixture of females and males... How about those fabulous fireworks that capped off a fun day of activities? Well, I went back to some of my old scrapbooks for programs from 4th of July celebrations sponsored by NSA Special Services for years of 1968-1971...Here was a list of the schedule of events (listed in Park opening at 0630 (and I think we got there almost when it opened!) Track and Field events included 25 yd, 50 yd 100 yd dash, 20, 30 & 50 Donkey Softball - Officers vs. Senior NCOs - The Declaration of Independence (from inside cover of all the programs) |
