Hello to everyone, this is Dean Murphy '69-'75. Naples is still tops for me. I recently got in contact with Paul Patton, thanks to this site. Well, now I'm going to try again. Anyone know the where abouts of Terry Kelly, Larry Hollingshead, Marilyn Napolilo? Actually, anyone from that time period is fine. I graduated in '76, one year after my brother Pat Murphy. I'm in Atlanta, Georgia. Give me your e-mail. Would love to hear from all. I am married (20 years this year) with 5 kids (16, 15, 11, 9 and 2). Hope to hear from you soon at [email protected]/99
Hi! I attended Forrest Sherman Elementary School from 1966-1969 (4th-6th grades). I have had so much fun reading everyone's comments. Does anyone remember Mrs. Frederico? I would love to hear from anyone who wants to reminisce! I often think about the fun my family had at Carney Park playing baseball, watching the drive-in movies, having picnics and slot car races. I remember the Flamingo Club and the girl scout meetings we had there, the swimming pool at the NATO base and sitting around the snack bars reading the Stars & Stripes. Renate Faye Mayo, Wanda Nixon, Carol Dickinson, John Conti, Dean Hoylman - are you out there?! Has anyone EVER found pizza in the states that even comes close to Naples pizza?! Oh, I could go on & on... Weren't we lucky to have this experience? How about a group tour to re-live some of those memories?! Thanks so much for this bulletin board! My name is Janna Fox, and it was Janna Jorgensen. Please email me! [email protected] 6/99
I went to Forrest Sherman from 1959-1962. I would love to hear from anyone that went there at the same time. I have been trying to find Karen McDaniel for about 20 years, her brothers name was Craig. Sandi (Maxwell) Eddy. Thanks [email protected] 6/99
Would love to hear from or learn more about the following people from Forrest Sherman High School and Naples American High School in Naples, Italy: (Please note that these are generally people whom I have not heard from or contacted since high school since they left Naples or I left Naples - years of 1979-1983.) Rochelle Saubaugh - She must have been class of 85 or 86. She was in Naples during 1979-1981 years. She went with Girl Scouts to Switzerland to the Our Chalet. She had asthma and missed a lot of school due to her asthma. Her last name may be spelled incorrectly. Corinne Bunn Imler '85. Corinne's mother is from Guam. Corinne's brother is James Bunn '83. Corinne was last known to be in Yona, Guam - married to a school teacher named Steve Imler. Corinne and her mother were studying to be school teachers and her mother earned a scholarship. Both were going to school at a college in Guam. Corinne participated in cross country (excellent runner) and was a Girl Scout. She went to Paris, France with Shirlene Ananayo '84, Susan Zableckis '83, and others during 1981-1982 school year. Corinne moved to South Carolina (?) - went to school with Lori Freiburg '84 and then moved to Guam and graduated there in 1985. Annette Schmidt '83. Annette left after her freshman year at FSHS in Naples to go to Germany. She had blonde hair. Kathleen Ganaway '83. She had short red hair. She was there for her freshman and sophomore years at FSHS on Via Manzoni - 1979-1981. Kathy's father was in the Sixth Fleet band and we had many concerts at school courtesy of the Sixth Fleet Band and Kathy's dad. She had a relative who had worked on building Walt Disney World in Florida. She lived near Pinetamare near Darhma Zayas-Boujouen '83. Darhma Zayas-Boujouen '83 was at FSHS from 1979-1982. She was originally from Puerto Rico. She lived near Kathy Gannaway '83. Nancy Heinze '83. What ever happened to her? She was very religious - carried a Bible with her. Her father was a missionary to the Naples area. She and her family spent 1/2 the year in Oregon and 1/2 the year in Naples. She spoke fluent Neapolitan dialect of Italian as a native. She took all of the college prep courses at Naples. What happened to Mr. Gordon V. Harter? He was an English teacher at the high school. What did he do after retirement from DoDDS teaching? Laurie Caputo '84 - She ran cross country and left Naples after her freshman year to go to Austin, Texas. I saw her in Austin in 1983 fall with her parents. She graduated from high school in Austin, TX. Her parents I heard divorced and her father was stationed in Delhi, India afterwards. What happened to her? Karren McClain '84. She ran cross country, was active in Girl Scouts (went to Switzerland to the Our Chalet), and played in the band. She was in Naples for her freshman year at least - maybe her sophomore year - can't remember. She lived in Parco Lago D'Allocca past Pinetamare. She dated Eddie Perea '83. She used to live in the towers in Pinetamare before moving to the parco. She lived in the towers during the earthquake November 23, 1980 - her sister took the cat with them as they went downstairs out of the building while the towers shook back and forth. She ended up having a cut on her finger that ended up being a complication medically and the family left Naples due to medical reasons due to her sister's injury with the cat during the earthquake. They supposedly were from Texas or going to Texas... Eddie and I never heard from her again. Would like to know what happened to her. Jenny Morrow '84 and her family and sister Vicky Morrow. Jenny was active in Girl Scouts and went to Our Chalet in Switzerland - I think. They moved from Australia to Naples. They were our next door neighbors and were robbed once. They were active in square dancing. Jenny was also in Medical Explorers at FSHS. The Morrow family lived in Naples from 1979-1982. Lydia Sargent '84. She lived in Parco Lago D'Allocca. Her mother was from Iran. She had never lived in the USA when she was in Naples. She was best friends with Chris Lossner '82 who had previously lived in Hawaii. She sang in the choir. I remember her on the bus after school at FSHS on the blacktop where we had p.e. outside... after having heard the announcement on the intercom about the hostage crisis in Tehran, Iran. She cried and knowing her mother being Iranian and she being 1/2 Iranian with family in Iran and having lived in Iran, I knew this was emotional and tough news for her. Charles Carlson '84 or "Charlie" as he went by. He was really into swimming and swam in the summer youth swim team program. He had blonde hair. He also had older brothers. He was active in Catholic Youth Organization. Randy Watts '83 Louisa Adkins '83 Aphrodite Kiriazopoulos '83 She was from Greece. She was an intellectually gifted student who excelled in English, Italian, and took Greek studies during the evenings and weekends to keep up with her schooling from her home country in addition to her American studies at FSHS on Via Manzoni. Shirley Perry '84 - sister of Mike Perry '83. Shirley's family had lived in Belgium (SHAPE) before coming to Naples. She tried to rescue a cat out of a tree once and fell - breaking her back and was in a cast and bedridden for some time one summer. She lived in Parco Lago D'Allocca near Pinetamare. Nukte Muralti or Muratli '84 from Turkey. Fluent in Italian, English, and Turkish. She was a Moslem. Her father worked at NATO AFSouth. She was active in Medical Explorers and Italian Club at FSHS. Lori Rea '82 - She had red hair and was active in choir. Mary Tolg '82 She lived in Parco Lago D'Allocca and had a younger brother named Robert '84. Heather & Shawn Flanagan '87. They lived in Parco Lago D'Allocca and were neighbors to the Morrow family and the Michie family. They previously lived in Japan and after Naples moved to Germany. Rhonda Beckwith '87 Eric Sharvelle '85. Eric moved to Seoul, South Korea after Naples. He was active in music - either choir or band - as he went to Sorrento for the music festival November 23, 1980 (the day of the earthquake in Italy). He left Naples during his sophomore year. Maria De Los Angeles Rivera '84 and then graduated in 1983. She was a gifted musician on many instruments especially the piano with perfect pitch. She helped out with the choir by playing the piano. She earned a scholarship of about 36,000 US Dollars to the Eastman school of music in New York. What ever happened to her? Her whole family was gifted in music. They were originally from Puerto Rico. Kurt Juengling '83 - Did he pursue a political science or history career? I remembered that he had earned a top score on the world history exam contest that Mrs. Delatte administered in 1982. He left after 1982. I think he also wrestled on the wrestling team in Naples. Anyone involved with CCD, CYO, Girl Scouts, gymnastics (1979-1980), cross country (1981-1983), track (1981-1983), choir (1980-1982), Italian club, or Medical Explorers (1981-1982) in Naples at FSHS and NAHS between 1979-1983? Did you live in Parco Lago D'Allocca ever - even before or after the years of 1979-1983? Would love to hear about what happened to the parco. Did you know Franca Lettieri (brother Nimo and parents), Lena Allocca (and sisters), Carmine Maione, Andrea Di Vigliotti (and sisters), or their families? The Allocca family owned the parco my family lived in... Franca Lettieri's family owned one of the Villas in the parco. She and I keep in touch - she's an attorney now in Nola. Her brother died tragically in a motorcycle accident while working for the Carabinieri in Sicily. Andrea Di Vigliotti and his two sisters owned the farm and ranch next to the parco. His sisters were deaf. Sara Fryer '85, Tina Upshaw '85 and I visited them many times. Carmine Maione was a friend of Andrea. Did you know my brother Bill Jr. Michie '86 who was active in Boy Scouts, CCD, CYO, cross country, and band? Did you ride my bus with the bus driver we nicknamed Curly? Do you remember the November 23, 1980 earthquake? Did you know my parents William D. Michie (US Air Force - AFSouth) and Ida Michie (Avellino Elementary teacher, International school teacher at Mostra D'Oltremare, and Navy Family Services' family, couple, and teen counselor? If you have information on any of the above or want to share memories and stories, contact me at [email protected] (My name is Tawnya Michie Kumarakulasingam '83, Born 1966.) [email protected] 6/99
Have not heard a lot from the Class of 1977! This is Joel Ross living in rural Kentucky and travelling the midwest on business. Would live to hear from Leslie Carpenter, Janet Abel, Jay Greenhaw, Brian Sheets, Jeff Epperson or any of that old gang. In an earlier message this year someone inquired as to who was the culprit on the football bus to Aviano in the winter of 1976. The trip where the toll taker on the autostrada got nailed with all the shaving cream. I was on that bus and I know who the guilty parties are. I can still remember Coach Dayton making all the Seniors sit in the front of the bus after the Caribeneri pulled us over. Write me if you are interested in the details. [email protected]. 6/99

Did you live in Parco Lago D'Allocca ever - even before or after the years of 1979-1983? Would love to hear stories about the parco from the past and now. Email me at [email protected] Parco Lago D'Allocca was located past Pinetamare in Castel Volturno area in the Caserta region. There was a lake in the middle of the parco with 2 and 3 story villas surrounding the lake. Remember the potato field? The parco was surrounded with a brick fence that was later topped off with glass around 1983. A gate was at one end. Pietro who owned the farm (corn) that surrounded the road into the parco used to guard the parco. He had a daughter. His house used to be the bus stop until the bus stop was moved to the restaurant and then we used to walk to the bus stop and go through a small entrance gate - and then pass some fields of grape vines. Pietro's house was next to the church and bombed out buildings from WWII. I think Mussollini had intended for adults with mental retard! ation to live in those houses, per a legend that I was told. The WWII fighting happened in this area and so only the church remained standing. The Catholic Church was still active with its own name day festival complete with the statue being taken around in a parade in the parco and elsewhere... there was a festival each year at the church - with a carnival. The priest served several churches. The parco gates, window wood shutters, etc were painted red. The parco landlord was Leonardo Allocca who has since died of cancer. He was a wealthy man. The family owned a restaurant where he hosted his name day and birthday parties with multiple course dinners and dancing with a live band - those were fun. He had a hotel in Abruzzi mountains and that was fun going there as his guest - he had a special private chef who cooked the most wonderful pizza. His brother Pietro Allocca took over the guard duties. He wasn't as serious of a guard as the farmer Pietro before him. He lived in Villa ! 1 with his family - daughters Luisa, Lena & Rosa (twins), Anna, and Lela. These daughters - particularly Lena & Rosa integrated well with the Americans in the parco. Anna later married an American who was stationed in Naples in the US Navy. I heard she had a baby while they were stationed in Iceland. They also lived in Virginia. Both Rosa & Lena are married and have children. The parco is no longer in the Allocca family and may have changed names due to the new owner. Franca Lettieri's family, per about five years ago, owned one of the villas in the parco as their summer home. Franca is an attorney in Nola and I last saw her in 1993 when she came stateside to visit my parents, brother, and me. Where Steve Espinoza '84 or '85 and his family lived... we used to jump off of that ledge into the lake. Mrs. Whitted used to fish and catch eels out of the lake. There were plenty of ducks in the water. Everyone spent their time walking, jogging, riding bikes, talking, and visiting arou! nd that lake. It was a lot of fun living there... would love to hear from people who lived, are living, or know information or stories about this parco and its community. Email me at [email protected] Thank-you! [email protected] 6/99
