COMMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT

DECEMBER 2007

WANTED: SECRETARY/TREASURER

Joe West Chairman of the Nominating/Election committee will be seeking candidates for the upcoming election. Second, Forth VP and Sec/Treas are up for reelection in April. Serving on the committee with Joe is Charlie Thornsburg and Jim Hayden. If you want to run for one of the positions mentioned you must notify one of the committee members in writing by February 15, 2008 declaring your candidacy. As I have mentioned in the June and September newsletter, John Peplinski Sec/Treas will not seek reelection. I also mentioned that the Sec/Treas is the most important position on the Executive Council and if no member is willing to run for this position then the FSHPA Inc. can no longer function as a charter member of the NHPA. In other words we will not have an Association. Is this what you want to happen to your Association? I know that the Nomination/Election Committee has been actively seeking a replacement but have found no one willing to take over.

The Club Championship tournament scheduled for January 26, 2008 has changed its format. In the past a 90% handicap cancellation tournament was run where points was awarded for each team member that finished in First, Second or Third in their respective class. The team that accumulates the most points would be declared the winner of the tournament. The new format is a 90% count-all handicap tournament and the team that has the highest team score at the end of the day will be declared the winner. Small clubs that can only field one team will now be competitive giving them a chance at winning the Championship. Please see the revised rules in detail elsewhere in this newsletter.

I had the privilege of attending the inaugural tournament at On Top Of The World HSC, Ocala Fl. on October 26, 2007. I was glad to see the turnout that saw both morning and afternoon sessions full. They have an outstanding location and the facilities are excellent. If you get a chance I would recommend that you attend one of the two tournaments remaining on the schedule. Congratulations to Ed Lalonde, Mike & Lois Tatonetti and all club members for a job well done.

Next Executive Council meeting will be held on January 25, 2008 starting 1PM at the Clearwater HSC.

In closing Pat and I would like to wish all members and their family’s a Merry Christmas and a prosperous and healthy New Year.
