REVEREND NEWLAND CALLED AS PASTOR

In August, 1951, the church voted to incorporate in order to buy property and to call
Reverend Carl Newland of Cairo, Illinois as Pastor.  Reverend Newland accepted the call, but was unable to come until the last of January, 1952.  The church voted to call Rev. A.F. Whitehurst of Long Beach as Interim Pastor.  He served the church from October 28,1951 until January 27, 1952.

FIRST BAPTISMAL SERVICE

Brother Moon remained with the church most of the time between the first meeting and the time Reverend Whitehurst came to be interim Pastor.  On October 21, 1951, Brother Moon officiated at the FIRST BAPTISMAL SERVICE at Santa Ana, California.  Mrs. Mercy Baldinger, Mr. Edward Dunn, Linda and Doyle King and Mrs. Elsie Smallwood were baptized.

On January 27, 1952, Reverend Newland brought his first message to a patiently waiting membership.  The Newlands lived in an apartment furnished by Dr. Dean located at
Anaheim Dog and Cat Hospital.
