Antonov An-74T (NATO: "Coaler") STOL polar transport

The An-72/74 series of utility aircraft were designed as replacements for the An-26 tactical transport used by the Soviet air force, with the An-72 used for utility purposes and the An-74 as a polar freighter. Both use engines mounted high and before the wings with the exhaust gasses passing over them to make use of the Coanda effect to improve STOL performance. They also include multi-slotted flaps, rear loading ramp and multi-unit landing gear to assist in operations on unprepared airstrips. The ability of the An-74 to operate in harsh weather conditions and in polar regions makes it ideal to supply far northern outposts.
