CANE CORSOS
GENERAL INFORMATION: The Cane Corso is athletic and has great endurance. They are protective in nature, but also completely loyal to its family. The Cane Corso is submissive and loyal to his family and aims to please. It is aloof with strangers, but will generally tolerate them as long as the owner is present. The Cane Corso is a quiet dog; but will bark when alerted to a strange situation or noise. As with all protective breeds, it needs to be socialized; as with all the larger breads, it needs obedience training to be fully enjoyed by its family. Since the Cane Corso has short hair, it sheds very little. It does not have the massive loose skin of other mastiff breeds, so drooling is minimal. These dogs are highly intelligent and train easily. This breed make an excellent housedog, but is also content to remain outside. He can adapt to most weather conditions. The only required special treatment that the Cane Corso demands is all the love and affection you can give The Corso is a "stay close to home" kind of dog and does not wander far from home or from their owners. The Cane Corso is not a fighting breed. However, that is not to say they will run away from a confrontation, but they have been bread for hundreds of years to work in groups, so they are not generally out looking to fight. The Corso will excel in any dog sport you participate in: Schutzhund, ring sport, and personal protection.
