Review Questions: Chapter 11
1. The first part of this chapter documents a series of discussions that Eppie has with other people (the psychologist, the detective, the administrative clerk) in her hospital room. How does Eppie handle herself during her conversations with these other characters? What do we learn about her during these encounters? At this point in the story, how is Eppie different, from the reader's point of view, than all of the other major characters?
2. The chapter ends with Doctor Wheelan preparing for her first consultation with Eppie, collecting her thoughts about her new patient as she walks toward the girl's room. What does Wheelan know about Eppie that none of her previous visitors knew? How would you expect Wheelan's relationship with Eppie to differ from those of the other characters who visited her earlier in the chapter?
