About us

August 29, 2008 | By: Fr. ABL

In accordance with the spirit of Vatican II and the mind of PCP II and the pastoral thrust of the
Archdiocesan Pastoral Assembly, doing apostolate in the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan is
being directed toward a work of community-building by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, in its very
core the aim of these apostolate directors' meetings is to lay out the foundations of clerical
synergy towards a genuine community of apostles.

The apostolate directors' assembly is a group of priest-directors challenged to "live what they
teach about BEC" by working out a BEC-based shepherding ethic. For these priests, apostolate is
not "ministry on your own," but a ministry with.

Even in its inception, the results are promising. With a common standard of operation in all
parishes due to common resolutions (after being approved by the Archbishop), a certain degree
of church discipline may be ascertained, making less room for undesirable leniencies. Secondly,
with an attendance from various parts of the archdiocese, a more holistic view of situations can
be assessed, thus assuring more appropriate policies. But most importantly, the priests are trying
to bond with each other. All these are achieved in an evening of simple food, drink and talk,
driven by an urge to merge.
