- Dull C. J. 1977 "Thucydides 1.113 and the leadership of Orchomenus" CP 72: 305-314 Abstract: Thucydides I,113 and the account of Boeotia in the Hellenica Oxyrhynchia II do not substantiate Orchomenus' leadership of the Boeotian Confederacy from 447-431 B.C. The evidence of Plutarch, Agesilaus XIX,2 and Xenophon, Mem. III,5,4 together with the numismatic evidence suggest Theban leadership at the battle of Coronea and in the events of 447. - http://www.utexas.edu/depts/classics/chaironeia/bibliography.html
Buckler J. "The re-establishment of the Boiotarchia (378 B.C.)" AJAH IV (1979) :50-64 Abstract: By electing boiotarchs in 378 Thebes signalled her intention to restore the confederacy of Boiotian cities upon a federal principle, as it had been before Agesilaus dissolved it in 386. The narrative of Xenophon, in the Hellenica, is tendentious and interprets the confederacy as a Theban domination. Plutarch, in Pelopidas and Agesilaus, is more careful in his use of official terminology and agrees with the evidence of the Hellenica Oxyrhynchia and a Boiotian inscription of the mid-4th cent., SEG XXV 553. - http://www.utexas.edu/depts/classics/chaironeia/bibliography.html

"According to the Hellenica Oxyrhynchia, Hagnias and his travelling companion, Telesegorus, were sent to Persia as ambassadors from Athens (Hell. Oxy. 2.1). While on their way, they were captured by the Spartan commander Pharax, who sent them off to Sparta to be killed. References to other events in the passage from the Hellenica Oxyrhynchia allow the date of Hagnias’ death to be placed at396 BCE (source for date: E.S. Forster, Isaeus [Cambridge, Mass.; Loeb Classical Library; 1943] 382) during the Corinthian War. (For an ancient account of the Corinthian War, see Xen. Hell. 3-5.)"
