Poem

Eternity

The broad expanse stetches before,
distantly, a single pinpoint light.

Thy word is a light unto my path,
a lamp unto my feet.

I leap into this mortal life,
clenched fists striking new air.

All around the babies cry
now unsure of their choice to come.

Adam fell that men might be
men are that they might have joy.

We have lived in the heights,
shall we tumble to the depths?

Hold the flame above the drifting gloom
or I may slip down the bank.

Nuzzling close to my source of mortality
Warmth, comfort, nourishment flow within.

If I could stay in this moment
eternity would be easy to endure.
