2009 CHAMP-
?Quick predictions.Rumors have it that Goodyear has come up with another stinker of a tire for Atlantaand what do you know?  Its going to be hot and slick tomorrow.  Atlanta just cant catch a break, no wonder people stopped going to that track.

Ol Farts tripped up the ABJ last week going for the Turkey.  Whos stepping up this week?

Winner- Anybody but Jeff- Sorry folks, Kenseth, McMurray, and the crappier Busch all hit the top 10.  Practice times back it up for McMurray and Kurt.

Runner-Up- Soggy Bottom Boy- Carl Edwards does very strong here.  But look out for Vickers and Montoya.  SBB could surprise with some drivers not expected to do as well.

3rd place- 24 Inches for Ingrid- Time for Jeffy Poo to find victory lane.  Martin doesnt get much love from the magic 8 ball, but hes strong and starting up front.  Will Stremme continue his shockingly decent start.

4th place- Lil T Racing- JJ should battle for the win, but hes not backing it up in practice.  Dont look for Bowyer and Logano to be huge here.

5th place- Checkered Flag Racing- Sure the Swam isnt a huge CFR fan.  This week, at least I dont have them last.  Biffle should battle for a top 10.  But the #3 for this team will leave them out in the cold (even though temps should be in the 80s tomorrow).

6th place- S+S Racing- This is almost like a win the way they have run lately.  Dale Jr. needs to be an ace for this team to turn things around.  I dont think he will, and Im a Dale Jr. fan.  Burton should pull in around 15th.  Ambrose will roll in about Outback way (the real outback).

7th place- Nascar has Hot Chicks- Hamlin looks hooked up in practice, but the magic 8 has him around 10th.  I see Better than that.  Labonte and Newman finish around 20th.

8th place- Ball and Chain- Hey, dont look now.Tony Stewart projected for a top 10.  Amazing.  Kasey Kahne could do the same (by means of practice) but I look for about a 15th.  But the #3 will anchor the team to a wet grave.

Beer Wench- Ol Farts- From penthouse to outhouse.  Kyle will be strong.  But Harvick just lost his touch for this track since he won here in Dale Srs car.  But the #3 will be around 35thcant make this up.

Real Winner- Jeff Gordon

Surprise Drivers- David Stremme, Juan Pablo Montoya, Aric Almirola

Disappointment  Drivers- Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman

Next week- Its an off week!!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
So no soup for you Larry!  Anybody but Jeffs day went down the crapper with Kenseths engine.  But heck it didnt stop there, Allmendinger and Kurt Busch both had their early season magic take a hit.  The kings of last weekend (Snow weekend in Richmond) were the Ol Farts who put up 445 points in the win. Leading the charge was punk-boy Kyle Busch.  Harvick and Robby Gordon round out the scoring.

The points standings tighten up in the middle.  ABJ have the lead.  Checkered Flag is 75 out.  But the 3rd-6th are between 112 and 206 back of the lead.  Biggest movers of the week were the Lil T Racing which is up 2 to 3rd and the Ol Farts move up 2 spots to 6th place.  There were no big losers, only a bunch that fell 1 spot.

Quickly through the field

Winners- Ol Farts, 445 points- Everything worked to plan in Vegas.  Kyle Busch bitched about his car.  Yet his car just sucked less than a lot of the others (of course he was aided by engines blowing up and pit road problems by others.).  The second member of the dynamic Fart duo, Kevin Harvick came in 12th.  But the biggest sign of craziness is Robby Gordon rounded out the scoring in 15th.

Runner-Up- Lil T Racing, 405- Breaking the 400 point barrier this week as well as the winner were Brian and Lil T.  Imagine if JJ wouldve actually performed to expected norm, Brian wouldve been hoisting the trophy.  Bowyer 2nd, Logano 13th, JJ 24th.

3rd place- Checkered Flag Racing, 372- Biffle had a great car all day, but faded down the stretch.  Reuttimann picked his way to 4th, Biffle 6th.  But the team had to take Sorenson somewhere in the desert as their #3 car thanks to Ragan blowing up early.

4th place- S+S Racing, 350- Congrats to Stephen for actually not sucking this week.  Well, it could be more of a case of other teams sucking more.  Jeff Burton snuck his way into 3rd (I still want to call him Ward driving that car).  Dale Jr. did not have a great car but came in 10th.  But Almirola came in 39th.  Man, that crappy #3 can absolutely ruin your day.

5th place- Nascar Has Hot Chicks, 340- I may have mentioned it..but Milton and Pinney have a $1 bet every week.  $1 to whoever finishes higher in the fantasy standings.  If you are keeping track its 2-0 advantage Milton.  Bobby Labonte led the way in 5th, Denny Hamlin 22nd, and Newman 25th.

6th place- Soggy Bottom Boys, 329- The defending champs are out of the gate in a similar fashion as last year.  Hanging in the top 5, but no where near where they were thinking.  Yet, this would be a bit more interesting if Carl Edwards hadnt had blown up on the next to last lap.  Vickers 8th, Edwards 17th, but Montoya 31st.

7th place- 24 Inches for Ingrid, 322- Once you think this team is making a move, ker-plunkback they get knocked.  This week their ace Jeffy Poo blew out a tire that blew out his rear panel.  Yet, that mangled car ended up 6th.  Mark Martin and Paul Menard had issues (taking Menard in the scoring in 35th).  Jeffy in 6th, Stremme in 18th.

8th place- Anybody but Jeff, 301- The points leader take a huge hit in the first 3 minutes of the race when Matt Kenseth blew up his engine (that was crap all weekend).  But heroes of the 1st 2 races were zeroes this week.  AJ Allmendinger in 33rd, Kurt Busch 23rd.  At least McMurray pulled a top 10.

Beer Wench- Ball and Chain, 296- Serving the suds for the first time ever are the husband and wife team of Scott and Cynthia Barber.  Hey, dont spill any.  Tony Stewart finished in 26thstill curious what is the real #14 this year.  Add to that Elliott Sadler in 29th.  High spot is Kasey Kahne in 11th.  Still 296 is not a bad beer wench total.  Check out the S+S over the previous two weeks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tick, Tick, Tick.you hear that?  Its almost time.  2009 Frosty Mug has kicked off, and we are under 48 hours till we hand the first victory of the season away, and in the biggest venue of the season, the Great American Race, the Daytona 500.  2009 brings about some changes.  Weve bid a farewell to the SEW Inc., one of the teams that has been in the league since the league went full-season in 2002.  But weve added some new blood, and took the league back to 9 teams.  Mark Pinney now gets his chance to put up or shut upok, put up, or complain about it loudly.  His, Nascar has Hot Chicks (yeah, I know, Nascar has Hot Chicks that have turned down Mark Pinney his whole life).  And the Ball and Chain.(sounds like an ol Social Distortion Tune), and Cynthia and Scott Barber (Scott has informed the league that we can list Cynthia first since she went with Tony Stewart at $50 in her first toss).

But 2009 will come down to who can de-thrownme.  Back to Back champs, 3 time champion, and last year becoming the all-time winning Frosty Mug teamman, I feel like Ric Flair (WOOOOOOOOOOO!).    Its a long marathon though.  The longest of all fantasy leagues, but oh so much of that marathon was decided last Saturday night.  The Swam is under budget cutsbut hes back for another campaign.  Good luck to all and may your fantasy season be funbut not as fun as mine.

Congrats go out to the Ol Farts for their win in the Bud Shootout.  Wonder if he wants a do-over on the voting for using our drivers in the Shootout?  Its his second career shootout win.  BTW- Hes the only active driver that has a win in the shootout.  All the other shootout winners, are now defunct in the league.

SWAMI TEAM- SEASON PREVIEW

Whatdid I think Id forget you folks?  Shoot, Milton is blowing off checking the gyms waiting for this article to come out J.  2009 is here, and it is a season of change.  The Nascar boys have cut their $ and their testing.  Could this be a chance for the small boys to get back at the big time boys?  Probably not.  But I do think our fantasy game may change a bit.  Itll be the same guys up front, but youre going to see new guys pushing toward 15th-20th.  This is going to be big time in our league this year, especially going to 9 teams.  Trust me, last year is long gone: 1. you wont have more than 2 teams in the 400s and not winning 2. last place scores will return to the mid 200s 3. Teams will be up and down more in the pointsalthough I do think the teams that are hooked up, will run away with some major points before the chase.

Without further adieu, how the season will end in the 2009 Frosty Mug Fantasy League will end its regular season (and how many individual races each will win during the entire season).

1. CHECKERED FLAG RACING, MILTON MARSH (7 WINS) Milton is putting a lot of hope into the performance of the Rousch cars.  Greg Biffle needs to pick it up if hes going to take it to the next level.  But the key to his season lies in the performance of David Ragan.  Ragan was rocking and rolling last year in the late summer, but kinda faded in the chase after not making it into the field of 12.  Reuttimann and Sorenson both are suitable 3s and 4s.  Look for some cookie cutter domination as the CFR makes it into the chase, but not as its top seed.

2. SOGGY BOTTOM BOYS, SCOTT TINGEN (6 WINS)- The back to back champ will get a chance to defend the crown in 2009.  The strategy wasnt so much to land that top notch 2nd driver behind Edwards, it was to try to address the #3 and #4 drivers and hope the #2 takes a step up.  Edwards is the odds on favorite to challenge JJ for the crown (but note, Edwards beat JJ in the real factor, that is points put up).  This team needs Truex and Montoya to jell to their new joint venture.  But do the math, this team has 4 drivers that are within the top 25.possibly in the top 20 if things bounce right.  That was the winning combination from two years ago in a 10 team league.

3. 24 INCHES FOR INGRID, BILL CARLSON (2 WINS)- Going out on a limb on this one, but I think this is the best team Bill has put out here into our league.  And I think he will be owning this years bounce back driver of the year in Jeff Gordon.  The question on what will drive his team will be whether David Stremme can figure out the new car.  And whether Dodge will not suck as bad as they have.  But Jeffy Poo and Mark Martin will make a formidable duo for most of the year.  I have concerns about ol man Martin in the heat of the summer wearing down from having to drive week in and week out rather than picking and choosing his events.  Stremme will bring the team down keeping them out of victory lane a bunch, but theyre going chasing this year.

4. ANYBODY BUT JEFF, LARRY WEST (8 WINS)- Speaking of the best product put out by one owner.  This year is Larrys turn to rake in the wins (since he has the worst winning % of any active fantasy owner in the league.making him the Chicago Cubs of our group).  In some ways, this may be a low ranking for Larry.  But Im holding off on the full approval for Kenseth without Reiser (didnt work as well last year, and has a new chief this year), McMurray being able to get off to the start as he ended last year, and Kurt Busch getting it done with Dodges 30% less support for nascar production this season (30% less of crap is whatdiarrhea?) ABJ is going to rack up the wins on the 1.5 milers.  And what do you think the Chase consist most of?  Hmmmm.

5. LIL T RACING, BRIAN TINGEN (3 WINS)- A bit shocked of Brian being ranked this high.  Crystal ball must have a thing for Dorky looking kids.  I.E. Joey Logano.  Hey, does he look like a tall David Archeletta from American Idol to you?  Lil T is going to have to get it done with studs and duds theory.  JJ in winners lane repeatedly.  And hope Logano doesnt stink it up for him.  Logano learns quickly then Ill feel good about this pick.  Till then, I wouldnt take this one to Vegas.  Not sure on how that Bowyer new team thing is going to work out.  Kinda blows that Casey Mears gets the jack daniels car.  Who looks like they can handle more Jack and Ginger?  Casey or Clint?  Thats what I thought.

6. NASCAR HAS HOT CHICKS, MARK PINNEY (4 WINS)- Good news for Pinney, hell be our rookie of the year.  Bad news, hes going to miss the chase (nope he will not be within 300 points to make the dance).  Hamlin doesnt have the makeup yet (whether him or the team) to get it done on all of the types of tracks.  And I still have reservations with Mears and Newman (although, I could be made to think differently with Newman if it turns out that Stewart/Hass is Hendrick Light.)  The good news for Pinney is that his team is deep with Bobby Labonte as the #4.  But the lack of Hamlin getting it done on all tracks keeps them out of the chase.

7. OL FARTS, JOHN FOEGE (3 WINS)- Coach Foege and the Farts come up short on their bid to get back into our playoff setup.  Although he takes the same path as Lil T Racing.  Wheres the difference?  The #4 driver.  They have a guy at the moment that is only running 7 races.  Sure he is going to mix and match, but its going to require some work.  Thats going to keep him out of the dance.  But Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick are going to probably be the top duo in the league, and will cause some massive point gains as long as the #3 and #4 dont screw it up.  They have a shot, but not a real one unless they can find a #4 thatll help out.

8. BALL AND CHAIN, CYNTHIA AND SCOTT BARBER (1 WIN)- Quote of the auctionTony Stewart at.$50.chirp, chirp, going once, going twice  Note to self, Toss out at a $1 till you know the bidding structure of the league.  Now, Tony has been the biggest story of the week so far if youre asking me.  Yet, show me on the downforce trcks.  The Barbers are going to be totally frustrated on tracks that arent the cookie cutters.  Those tracks Kasey will be in a hurry to going back to his trailer and playing with his Barbies.  Sadler and Kvapil are not bad choices for the 3 and 4.  But itll be a long year for the rookies.  They will learn and be back in 2010 with a vengeance.

9. S+S RACING, STEPHEN JORDAN (1 WIN)- Oh my, Im going to hear it on this one.  Yep, bringing up the rankings heading into the chase will be last years runner up.  The S+S need Dale Jr. to improve on tracks that hes been weak at.  And that was his knock going into last year, and he didnt really fix it then.  Jeff Burton is about as boring as a meeting led by Mark Pinney.  Hell finish between 10 and 15 all year long.  But the biggest anchor, weighing this team down will be the 3 and 4.  Amirola had some great runs last year.  But there is no Mark Martin around to compare notes with.  And Scott Riggs, enjoy the duels, because he will be field filler material all year long.

WINNER OF THE CHASE- ANYBODY BUT JEFF- The star power, the depth.  Larry gets to hoist the crown in 2009.  Larry holds off Soggy Bottom Boys who will finish in 2nd.

REAL WINNER OF THE CHASE- CARL EDWARDSlast year taught him how to get it done in crunch time.

COMEBACK DRIVER OF THE YEAR- JEFF GORDAN-  no wins to multiple wins this year.

DISAPPOINTMENT DRIVER OF THE YEAR- DENNY HAMLIN OR MATT KENSETHPICK EM Denny is going to be lost behind the media and star power of Kyle Busch and Joey Logano intrigue at being an 18 year old on the stage.  Plus he cant get it done when the track isnt flat.

STEAL OF THE DRAFT- JEFF GORDON, FOR $40

FEARLESS PREDICTIONS-

- Dale Jr. has another rough year, and Eury Jr. gets canned in the process.
- Dodge is gone from the sport in 2 years.
- Brian Vickers comes close to making the chase.
- Mark Pinney is going to cry all year long J
- Jimmie Johnson will make the chase, but between 5th and 10thand finally have some bad luck during the playoffs.

HOW THEY WILL FINISH AT DAYTONA- keep in mind, this week may be our superbowlbut it means very little toward who will be the big dogs of the summer.  Enjoy the close racing and the wrecks.  But the real fantasy season begins next weekend in Cali.

Winner- Anybody but Jeff- He won it last year and look what happened to him.  Kenseth and Kurt in the top 10.  Jamie McMurry rounds it out in the top 15.

Runner-Up- 24 Inches for Ingrid- Jeffy Gordon got into victory lane on Thursday, hes going back on Sunday.  This time, Martin joins in the fun with a top 10 and helps Bill to a strong start to the season.

3rd place- S+S Racing- Sure I dissed Stephen in the article above.  But Jr. should be stout on Sunday (its the regular tracks he chokes at).  Jeff Burton will be invisible till the last 10 laps when he shows up around 10th.

4th place- Nascar has Hot Chicks- No Mark, no extra points for drivers finishing in a row.  Hamlin, Mears, Newman finish between 12th and 14thah, Im not that good.  10th and 15th.

5th place- Ol Farts- Harvick should suck till 30 to go, then come out of no where for a top 5.  But for some reason, Im smelling Kyle Busch screwing this up for Coach.  Coachs 3 and 4 will be out of the race by lap 100.

6th place- Ball and Chain- Is it time to jump on the Tony Wagon?  You know thats a big wagon, with reinforced shocks.  Tony will run a top 5.  But Kahne is too skeered to run in the top 15.  But its these guys first event, enjoy it.  Theres plenty of time for us to pick on you.

7th place- Soggy Bottom Boys- Still cant forget Carl Edwards wrecking the field in his last plate race.  SBB want to remind all of you, the real racing starts next week.

8th place- Lil T Racing- JJ should be in hunt this week.  This team could be bumped up if Mikey can find some plate magic.  But Im smelling Logano bringing out the big one this week.

Beer Wench- Checkered Flag Racing- Serving the suds this week is Milton with his Rousch special.  Biffle and Reuttimann would load the trailer and head west right now if they could.  But theres a race to run.  Theyll finish around 20thand remind everyone to tune in next week.

RACE WINNER- Jeff Gordan

SURPRISE RACERS- E.SADLER, MONTOYA, REUTTIMANN

DISAPPOINTMENT DRIVERS- KAHNE, EDWARDS, BIFFLE, RAGAN

NEXT WEEK- FONTANA, CALIFORNIA.AND ONE BORING ASS RACE.  Hope it doesnt rain for 3 days like it did last year.
