KITCHEN TIPS
PRESSING THE GARLIC
Perhaps this is an old trick and I just stumbled on to it by accident. While making garlic bread I zapped butter in the microwave for about 15 seconds to soften it.  Upon removing it I found I had also thrown into the bowl 2 cloves of garlic, unpeeled.  They were hot when I got them out but the skin came right off and when I went to crush them there was an abundant amount of juice and very little left in the garlic press.  Now I nuke the garlic cloves for easy peeling and clean up of the garlic press.
When needing thin slices of cheese I find it easier to do this with a vegetable peeler.
