How Alpha Gamma Chi Began:
In December 1991, a group of friends got together and got to talking. All had been interested in Boy Scouts and had heard of the fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. One thing led to another and before you know it they got the idea to start a chapter here at Frostburg State!

First these four friends (Jeremy Gagliardi, Mary Grace Sylvester Gagliardi, Don Lipscomb, and Andrew Corl) had to find a group of people who were also interested in starting a chapter of APO. Once they found out that there were enough people who wanted to get involved, the started their petitioning process on January 23, 1992.

The petitioning group of Alpha Gamma Chi was inducted on Saturday April 11, 1992. Their induction ceremony was held in the library, room 210 at 1:00pm.

The Fall semester of 1992 was very busy for the newly formed petitioning group. Not only were they working towards completing the process to be able to charter, but they were also working towards having the very first official pledge class in the Spring of 1993.

After many service hours, library hours, studying, testing, and plenty of meetings with Randy Finder and the Lees (Correll and Avery), the petitioning group finally had earned their charter!

The chartering ceremony was planned for March 13, 1993. But unexpectedly, it snowed.a lot. as usual (for Frostburg anyhow). The event was rescheduled after many phone calls (some tearful). The new date was planned for just after Spring Break.

Alpha Phi Omega, Alpha Gamma Chi officially chartered on March 28, 1993. The ceremony was held in the Saint Johns Episcopal Church on Broadway at 1:00pm.
