Our Cardinal Princples:
Leadership, Friendship, Service
LEADERSHIP
Included as one of Alpha Phi Omegas cardinal principles, leadership plays a vital role in the operation of our organization on a chapter, sectional, regional, and national level. Alpha Phi Omega realizes that the emphasis placed on leadership and leadership development within the brotherhood not only is essential for fraternity success, but is invaluable in the professional world.
Through the use of elected officers, the fraternity places its interests and stability in the hands of a few good leaders and follows the decisions made with confidence. The principles of leadership continue through the entire membership of the chapter in the planning and implementing of service and membership projects chaired by brothers and participated in by the chapter in its entirety. By serving as a safe environment for the development and improvement of leadership skills, Alpha Phi Omega prepares brothers for success both within and beyond the reach of the chapter.
FRIENDSHIP
Alpha Phi Omega is based on three important aspects: leadership, friendship, and service. To us, being leaders and providing service to others is not the only important thing. We strive to build friendships that will last a lifetime.
SERVICE
Alpha Phi Omega is a National Fraternity with a primary purpose of volunteering. The Alpha Gamma Chi Chapter is dedicated to service in four ways: service to the campus of Frostburg State University, service to the Frostburg community, service to our Nation, and service to our fellow brothers of Alpha Phi Omega. Frostburgs chapter of Alpha Phi Omega has dedicated itself to the service of the community for over a decade.
Even though the Alpha Gamma Chi chapter is still relatively young, the members who dedicate themselves to the foundations on which Alpha Phi Omega was founded take great pride in the services which they provide to both the campus and the community.
Alpha Gamma Chi has sponsored many service projects that have gotten much attention from fellow students as well as members of the community. Each year, we have food drives that collect a lot of much needed food for the Western Maryland Food Bank. In the Spring we participated in an Earth Day project to beautify the local community, Relay For Life, and the Blood Drive held on campus, as well as an on campus gardening project to make our campus a more pleasant place.
Service is our priority. Serving the community and in turn making the community a better place is one of the goals for which we strive. To serve and to lead is our goal. Through service, we can build relationships with fellow students, neighbors in the community, national organizations, and other brothers.
