A group picture with the
mayor. I am standing next to the mayor, if you were looking for him. |
A last view of my hotel room,
standing at the door. It's got a little bathroom to the right, and that's
about it. The bed was situated underneath a giant window, so I watched the
rain and lighting there the night before. |

This is the ink the snail spewed. |

At the Hongu Shrine. It was raining a
little, so most of us had umbrellas. Why, yes, that is a
dragon!
And this is the snail, resembling a dirty old sponge.
Sitting just inside the shrine doors,
it's John and Mr. Kiyono!

Another view of the snail. Once
we knew what these looked like, we found them in crevices everywhere. |

The boys are looking at their
fortunes. You put some money, 200 yen preferably, into a box, and take out
a fortune. The fortune also has a lucky charm with it. They urged me to
buy one, and Kiyono-san gasped and told me I got the luckiest fortune
there is!

A sea cucumber, also very common
in the tidal pools. |

Technically, this picture shouldn't
have been taken, because we were in a holy place. This is one of 4 shrines
inside the main gate and the top of the hill. They'd been built elsewhere,
but got washed away, so they were rebuilt on the top of the hill. |

The rocky...plateau thing. All of
its crevices had something living in them. |

A very pretty crab the Japanese
guys found. |

This is my sea urchin. After they
killed it. :( Its ovaries are on the finger. |

A praying mantis on the top of
the minimountain in the park. |

A view from the top. |

Another view. |

This is the hot spring river,
which was steaming quite a bit when it first started to rain. |

The Habachi restaurant, complete
with grill in the center. |
