Chris Burns was born in March 1985 in Galesburg, Illinois. His parents divored when he was 5 or 6, somewhere in there. His dad was always nearby though. Chris would visit his dad every other weekend. At that time he was a baseball player, Chris did nothing but baseball. He's a cub scout dropout, and didn't play any other sports until he moved to Maryland in 1994 when his mom remarried to a man named Mark, who is in the Navy. That required them to move. So he and his mom packed up and left the good ol' midwest. Once he arrived in Maryland, he started playing different things. He played baseball, basketball, and football one season. Also while there, his interest in music started to grow, in late 1995/early 1996 he started to get into 311. He began playing the best sport of all time while he was in MD too......hockey. In 1997, Mark got transferred from the ONI where he was stationed in MD to the sub base in Groton, CT. When Chris arrived in CT, he started playing ice hockey, he had only played street before. In March of 1998, he bought a guitar. This was his beginning in music. He sucked, really sucked, until about late 1999. Anyway, before that happened, on February 8th, he started going out with his still current girlfriend, Meaghan. She has been a huge factor in his life since then. Another life changing event happened in 1999, he bought his first drum set. It was a CB Drums SP Series 5 piece kit. Chris Jelden, of Yellin Keller, now uses that set. Soon after, he and Marc started jamming and forming "bands." None of them ever worked, until January 2002 when From Zen came together.
